Did you know that November is diabetes awareness month? Or that 25.8 million people in the US have type 2 diabetes? Type 2 diabetes is preventable by choosing to eat healthier and stay active. Type 2 diabetes is a particular concern for children right now because of the increase in childhood obesity. I know a few children personally who have been warned that they are headed down the path towards obesity, so it’s really important for them to watch what they eat and exercise. Better’n eggs is an egg alternative that consists of the white portion of eggs, as well as vitamins and minerals that together are a healthier alternative than eating a whole egg and contain just 25 calories per serving. You can use better’n eggs products in any recipe that calls for eggs, but the allwhites brand has came up with some recipes that look super yummy. You can check them out on the all whites egg whites website. My favorite is the Spicy Bacon and cheese eggwich. The ingredients include

  • 1 cup (8 ounces) Better’n Eggs®
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne hot pepper sauce
  • 1/4 cup  (1 ounce) Crystal Farms® Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 2 slices turkey bacon, cut in half crosswise
  • 4 whole wheat English muffins, split
Doesn’t it look yummy?
