Emily Reviews Holiday Gift Guide

If you were following my blog last May, you might remember the Purely Paige giveaway that I had. Paige has came back to offer you all another giveaway, this time she’s offering up her guitar pick christmas ornament. Here’s a little more about Paige and her etsy shop, purely paige.

I grew up in a small town (then) Houghton, WA. There wasn’t once as a small girl that I remember not being encouraged to be artistic. The first things I remember as a little girl are running free in the park next to our house and swinging in my back yard,  collecting pretty rocks to try and sell and drawing pretty princesses in castles with even their cats adorned with jewels and crowns. My favorite (only) grandpa used to ask me if he could sit and watch me draw or paint, I remember he would watch for as long as I did it now matter how many hours. And when I won a contest in first grade for drawing our school mascott (leopard), with a reward of having it printed up on that school year’s sweat suit for sale, everyone in my family wore it!
My mom was always thinking of creative art projects for me. And my Dad was always helping me with creating the most creative science and geography projects. My Mom was also always looking for creative things for herself to make and sell at bazaars ect.. I think I learned from both my parents that if I see something I like, I can probably figure out how to make it myself, and make it even better!  Or if I find a need for something I haven’t found I can probably make it and sell it. My father is the one that gave me the gene that makes me yearn for the ability to work for myself only!
My first jewelry project was with yarn and plastic beads of course, then I remember making my own beads out of magazines and elmers glue, then fimo and sculpey clay! That moved into friendship bracelets and then one day when we were browsing shops in seattle, we happened upon a beadstore. We had never seen anything like it! It was expensive, so my parents sent me to the dollar a scoop bin. I had so much fun sifting through that bin!
I meticulously picked each and every bead out of that huge bin! I went home and emptied out my bag with the excitement of Christmas!
I felt butterflies in my stomach thinking of all the different possibilities that could come out of my new treasures. And that is how jewelry making and I began our story, we have been living happily ever after since!
Now I create pieces out of sterling and fine silver, gold and goldfill, nickel, copper, brass, aluminum, base metal combined with gemstones, and some vintage elements.
I love being the person that creates the perfect unique and special gift that someone has been looking for to show someone exactly how much they care. The most beautiful compliment I have received from a customer is that felt like they felt like they were wearing a piece of artwork whenever they wore my pieces.
I thrive off of creating custom jewelry, and you usually will not find me making many of exactly the same thing because I love experimenting and striving to make something different and beautiful. I am a perfectionist at heart so I am never content, always looking within myself trying to figure out what more I can do.
