Around this time of year, lots of us make donations to various charities. Whether we donate money, time or products, we can give a little to make a difference in the lives of others. We think about soup kitchens, toy donations and other similar charities this time of year. A group that we tend to forget about is veterans. Did you know that veterans are more likely to get divorced than civilians of the same age, gender and income level? This is just one struggle that Vet’s face. We’ve all heard about how high the rates of PTSD are for our soldiers returning home as well. When coming home, they also can struggle to find a job, or even find a car that they can afford. Donating old cars for veterans can enable the organization to put money into groups that help veterans in a variety of ways. Instead of your car going directly to a veteran, it will be sold and the money will be used to help a vet. This is great because you don’t have to have a working vehicle to be able to donate. In fact, your donation doesn’t need to be an actual car, either. You can donate motorcycles, RV’s, Boats, Airplanes, farm equipment, etc.
You’ll also be able to take a tax credit for the car. The amount of the tax credit that you will receive will depend on how much your car (or other donated item) is able to be sold for. The car will be picked up for you so you don’t have to worry about the gas needed to drop it off. It may take a few days to arrange the pickup but it’ll be a quick and easy process. There are no fees involved for people who donate their vehicle. Additionally, you can just feel great about helping a veteran in need.
