I love discovering new kitchen products! For me, it’s all about practicality and functionality. If I come across a product that allows me to have a completely new food experience or makes cooking easier, I’m sold. I recently had the opportunity to work with Lékué which is a company whose sole purpose is to design revolutionary products that make cooking and baking fun and easy.

Their specialty is silicone products and they offer everything from cookware to bakeware, and kitchenware. Because they are made of high quality platinum silicone, these products are made to last. They are easy to clean since food doesn’t stick to silicone. The cookware and bakeware is obviously safe to use in the oven and/or microwave. Here is a small sample of the products Lékué has for you.

For this review, I received 2 products to try out: the Ice Box and the Macaroon Kit.

The Ice Box is a hybrid between an ice cube tray and a container. The lid of the box is made of silicone and when flipped upside down, serves as an ice cube tray. The ice cubes are approximately 1 in by 1 in or 1 in by 1.5 in (they are irregularly shaped so their size varies a little). The beauty of it is that when your ice cubes are ready, you turn the ice tray over and pop the ice cubes directly into the container. The fact that it’s made of silicone means that ice cubes are really easy to remove with a gentle twist or a push of the thumb. No more banging on the counter or straining to get those ice cubes anymore!

It takes about 3 full ice cube trays to fill the ice box which is 90+ ice cubes. You’re basically guaranteed to never run out of ice cubes. I thought at first that the ice cubes in the container might stick together but so far, it hasn’t happen. It might be partly because of the shape of the cubes: they are not round, nor square, they are irregular hexagon. The fact that the Ice Box has a lid is a nice feature because it means that unlike most ice trays, it won’t be in contact with the air and odors from your freezer so they’ll taste great even if they stay in your freezer for a while. The lid isn’t perfectly hermetic though so I’ll have to see over time if this becomes an issue.

The second product I received is the Macaroon Set. The set comes with a special silicone baking mat, a Decomax, and a small booklet with recipes. The silicone mat is made especially for macaroon: it has circular edges that tell you exactly how much pastry to pour to get evenly shaped macaroons. The macaroons are easy to remove from the mat because it’s flexible. I just gently peeled them off one by one and they all came out intact! I didn’t even rinse the mat since there were only crumbs on it, I just put it in the dishwasher and it came out perfectly clean.

The Decomax is made of silicone and replaces the conventional pastry bag. It’s easy to fill through the large opening on the side. The lid is see through which is a nice feature because you can see how much you have left. The Decomax comes with 6 different nozzles so you can use it to decorate cakes, cupcakes, and cookies as well. I found it very easy to use and used it for the filling in between the macaroons as well. My tip to you is to open the lid once in a while to get rid of air when your Decomax is almost empty this way you won’t have to press really hard on it. It was very easy to control the flow and also very easy to clean: just a quick rinse in the sink then I put it in the dishwasher.

It was my first time making macaroons from scratch and I’m really happy with the results. I made Vanilla Macarons Filled With Dark Chocolate Cream. As you can see, they are all nice and even thanks to the special mat and they were as delicious as they look! I can’t wait to try other recipes.

Overall, I think Lékué products are very well designed and easy to use and can truly change your cooking experience for the better. I love how they come up with totally unique products that are safe and easy to use. I will definitely be getting more of their products soon. Is it just me or is the waffle kit really tempting?
