The Berenstain Bears were a big part of my childhood. I loved their books. I remember running to the library shelf that held them and scouring to see if there was a new one that I hadn’t yet read. It’s fun to now share The Berenstain Bears with my children. My husband and I have been reading The Berenstain Bears books to our kids for years but we just recently came across a DVD at our local library. I had no idea that they were available on DVD and we had a great family movie night after making our discovery.

I was sent The Berenstain Bears: Golden Sister Edition and the Berenstain Bears: Golden Brother Edition to review.  My first impression upon receiving our sets was “Wow.  What a great gift idea.”  The limited edition packaging is very nice.  It displays the DVD and your corresponding bear very nicely.  Since the kids enjoyed the library DVD we had checked out, they were very excited when they caught sight of these new sets.  The fact that the sets included a 10 inch stuffed plush of either Brother Bear or Sister Bear sealed the deal.

My husband and I started having Family Movie Nights with our kids a couple years ago.  Sometimes we’ll run get a pizza for our movie night or even make milk shakes and sometimes we’ll just do a movie.  Either way, it’s always a special night and we all enjoy it.  This time, since we had new movies to view and bears to snuggle, we decided to forgo the the food and just do the movies.  First, the kids had to check out the plush Brother and Sister Bears.  It took a little compromising but our older son agreed that our 2 1/2 year old should get to claim Brother Bear for his own.  Luckily, they shared him really well.  Sister Bear went to our daughter.  Those bears are getting lots of bear hugs now.

We started with The Berenstain Bears Golden Sister Edition.  It’s filled with 2 hours of Sister Bear fun.  The kids enjoyed watching the Bear Family spend their days in Bear Country learning life lessons.  The kids were giggling a lot and even though it’s titled, Sister Bear Edition, this movie is definitely a hit for the whole family.

We also watched The Berenstain Bears Golden Brother Edition.  This DVD is also 120 minutes of Brother Bear fun.  Again, our house was filled with lots of laughter and fun as the kids watched Brother and Sister Bear throughout their days.

Our family gives both editions two enthusiastic thumbs up.  It’s nice to see such fun wholesome family movies available for everyone to enjoy.  The Bear Family helps instill timeless life lessons and brings back traditional community values of country life at its finest.  You can pick your Limited Edition Gift Sets up at your local Walmart and Sam’s Club stores for $19.99 each starting May 21, 2013.  Make sure   I love that Kaboom Entertainment is dedicated to providing such great films for family entertainment.
