*I was sent products from Museum Tour to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

After taking a couple of early childhood education courses, I began to see toys as learning tools instead of “just” toys. It’s really incredible how much children learn through play especially if provided with the right tools. Yet, it  makes a lot of sense. Even as an adult, I know that I learn more (and it “sticks” better) if I am enjoying myself while learning.

MuseumTour.com is a site that sells a huge variety of educational toys and games for children from birth through adult. They evven create a top 10 list each year based on recommendations from zoos, aquariums, and science centers. They hand select toys that they believe are quality educational gifts, but that isn’t the only unique thing about Museum Tour. Their website layout is unique because it allows you to search by category and their categories are really neat ones such as air and space, architecture, money matters, and robot exhibit. How cool is that? If you prefer, you can also browse by age or grade. I’ve spent so much time looking over the various categories of this website and gushing over all of the unique toys that I want to buy for the kids on my list.

nano

I was able to check out two products from their list of top toys to get an idea for the types of toys that they offer and recommend. I was sent the Hexbug Nano Zip line which is basically a 23 piece track that comes with little robotic bugs that navigate the maze by crawling, hopping and flipping over. This is a fun set for ages 3+ and is just $19.99 which I think is a great price point. There are lots of other Hexbug sets and bugs so you can add to your collection. This zip line set has four zip line backpacks to use with the bugs you already have which is awesome. My nephews like Hexbugs in general but the zip line part of this set makes it “cooler” than most.

DuckTapebookDuckTape2

We were also sent The Duct Tape Book which is aimed at ages 8+ and gives you step by step instructions for creating neat creations and accessories from duct tape. Tweens and teens can be hard to buy for so I was excited to see this interesting book on the list as I know it’ll impress my 16 year old niece who is crafty and likes to create her own accessories.

Both items that I was sent are quality toys that will both get a lot of use and that I feel great about giving as gifts. If you’re interested in finding high quality, educational gifts for the kids on your list be sure to check out Museum Tour this holiday season.
