My nephew Drew is 3 and he’s a fan of the show Dinosaur Train that is on the PBS kids channel here called Sprout. The show is aimed at preschoolers and combines fun adventures with educational information for kids. I have to admit I’ve even learned a thing or two from Dinosaur Train the show or Dinosaur Train books that Drew has owned before such as which part of the earth certain dinosaurs lived on and the time spans they lived in, etc. It’s really neat how the show makes learning so fun.

February is children’s dental health month so we were able to check out the book Buddy’s Teeth which is about buddy the dinosaur from Dinosaur Train beginning to lose his teeth. It discusses how he is a T-Rex and t-rex constantly lose and regrow their teeth because they are carnivores while other types of dinosaurs that don’t eat meat don’t lose their teeth and some dinosaurs don’t even have teeth. It’s a cute book and can be used to draw comparisons between how children lose their baby teeth. It’s recommended for ages 2-5. The pages are regular thin pages so it’s best for kids who are old enough to know how to be gentle with books.

Dinosaur Train also has toothbrushes for kids (from the GUM brand). The two pack that we got had one character on each toothbrush so Drew is really excited about being able to choose which character to brush with each time he brushes his teeth. The two pack retails for just $2.99 and is available on amazon.com and toyrus.com. These are a really affordable way to encourage your little one to take care of their teeth.
