Thank you to Paul Bunyan Land for providing my family with admission, free of charge, for this review.  All opinions are my own.

Every state has a variety of attractions that are great fun to visit.  One that our family just visited in Minnesota is Paul Bunyan Land.  Situated in the beautiful Brainerd Lakes Area, this iconic attraction has been around for almost 60 years.  Relocating a short distance back in 2003 not only allowed Paul Bunyan Land more space, now 23 acres, but also the opportunity to add to the existing attraction – Old Farm Pioneer Village.  We spent the whole day enjoying this double feature setup as the admission price includes it all.

PB 100

Babe, the Big Blue Ox, is the first thing to great visitors upon arrival to Paul Bunyan Land.  He’s big, he’s blue, and not the least big scary!  Babe is an exciting way to start the day as he took our children completely by surprise.

PB 12

After entering Paul Bunyan Land, Paul greets each child by name and talks and jokes with them.  He asked the kids if they were excited, what they all planned to do, and told them about his “pet dog” that was close by.  Hours later, when we passed by him again, he still called out to the kids by name.  Of course, the kids were completely stumped as to how Paul knew their names!  (They didn’t see me write them down for the teller when we entered the park and she quickly passes them on to “Paul”.)

After the awe of seeing the giant animated Paul Bunyan, we headed to the area with rides.  There was a variety of options for all ages from Bumper Cars, Swings, and Tilt-O-Whirl to the smaller children’s rides such as the Boats, Planes, Inflatable, and Frog Hopper.  Paul Bunyan Land also has a Rock Climbing Wall, Haunted Mine “Ride”, Magnetic Mine Shack, and more!

After spending a couple hours on all the different rides and attractions in this area of the park, we headed back outside for a picnic lunch.  Paul Bunyan Land does have a full concessions available for meals, snacks, and treats but they also have a gorgeous picnic area outside the gates if you choose to pack a lunch.

PB 50

Then we headed back in to visit the other side of the park that included “This Old Farm”.  This was a series of walk-through exhibits where we were able to see antiques, more Paul Bunyan memorabilia, and enjoy simpler times.

PB 51

After spending about an hour and a half touring “This Old Farm”, the kids were ready to hit the rides again for another hour.  We had a really fun day at Paul Bunyan Land and made lots of memories.  Before heading home, though, no stop is complete without a visit to the gift shop.  We purchased each of our kids a souvenir to remind them of their fun day.
