The 2014-2015 school year is just around the corner and we are beginning to prepare. Among our list of must-have back to school products are some writing tools from BIC. The BIC brand is very familiar to me as I can remember having their products in my pencil box when I was growing up. Now, as a parent, I prefer to stick with brands I know and can trust so BIC is now a part of our children’s pencil boxes too.
New to the 2014 product line up is the BIC Kids writing instruments line that is designed to help students learn to write. Writing is such an essential part of the learning process and this skill is needed for the best academic achievements possible. The BIC Kids line was specifically created with learning in mind and was ergonomically designed with the help of teachers and other experts in this field and is geared to help kids “Fight For Your Write”. The newest recommendation from experts is that students spend a minimum of 15 minutes a day on handwriting to rebuild this skill.
Handwriting seems to be turning into a lost art with all the technology involved in today’s world. However, this skill is vital as it promotes creativity, communication, and helps reading skills. Our family “Fights For Your Write” by having the kids write a daily journal entry along with drawing a picture. This allows the kids some time to think about what they would like to write, come up with a couple sentences, practice their handwriting and spelling skills, and put their thoughts into words.
BIC sent me a variety of their new products including: BIC Kids Mechanical Pencils, BIC Kids Pen, BIC Kids Stylus, BIC 4-Color Metallic and Mini, BIC Atlantis Comfort Pens, BIC Atlantis Exact Pens, BIC Xtra-Shine Pencils, BIC Magic Marker Dry Erase Markers, and the BIC White Out Zap. The new BIC Kids Line has especially impressed me as the design actually helps kids hold the utensil correctly. I am excited to use this with our soon to be 4 year old this year because he struggles with where and how to hold pencils. The Kids Line also comes with stickers so the child’s name can be added to the side of the pen or pencil.

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.
