ZumZum balance bike

*This is a sponsored post. All opinions are my own.

I remember being about six years old and trying to transition to a 2 wheeler bike. Prior to that, I had only ever owned trikes and bikes with training wheels. Those bikes didn’t do much of anything for teaching me balance because I could lean in any direction without consequence. As a result, getting rid of those training wheels and learning to balance on a two-wheeler bike was basically like starting all over.

In recent years balance bikes have gotten really popular with toddlers and little kids. They are similar to “big kid” 2 wheeler bikes except they are closer to the ground (so they are the appropriate size for little kids) and they have no pedals. This way, tikes learn how to balance on their very first bike so transitioning to a 2 wheeler later on is much smoother.

Right now there is a kickstarter campaign for a wooden balance bike called the ZumZum Bike. The video below made me realize how perfect it would be for Drew. He really wants to ride a 2 wheeler like his cousins and neighbors do, but he hasn’t learned how to balance on a bike yet.

The ZumZum balance bike is unique for several reasons. At first glance it stands out because it’s made out of wood. It’s also unique because it fits two sizes of wheels (10 inch or 12 inch) and has an adjustable frame height. These two features make the bike customizable to your child’s height and let the bike grow with your tot. In fact, it’s designed to last from 18 months up through 4 years!

Although the bike has a thin and sleek appearance, it’s tested to hold up to 220lbs so you don’t have to worry about durability. It consists of just the frame and the tires so there are no parts to rust or deteriorate over time. The tires don’t mark and are silent when in use, making them ideal for indoor or outdoor use.

The ZumZum Kickstarter funding campaign is already more than half way to its goal amount. The campaign will run through February 7th.

I learned it can be used for children as young as 18 months…perfect for my little guy who is almost 18 months old. Also, it’s designed to be used indoors as well as rough terrain outdoors. Light and safe…an all around great idea for my little guy!! Crossing all fingers and toes!! Thanks for the chance!! Xo

Hi. I’m curious if Jodi K. ever got her give-away prize for this bike. I also won the bike on a different blog which was also doing a give-away. They put me in contact with Zum Zum people to make arrangements for receiving the bike. After months and months of being promised the bike would be sent, I was finally ignored when writing to ask when to expect it. Does anyone know what has happened with this company? Have searched the internet and they seem to have gone off the grid. Web site isn’t even loading when I click on it from their facebook page. Strange. Wondering if anyone else knows anything.

      Hello,
Jodi had reached out to me in May because she hadn’t received her giveaway prize. At that time I emailed ZUmZum and they told me they had come across some speed bumps in manufacturing the bike, so the sales of the bikes were being pushed back. I haven’t heard from Jodi or ZumZum since then so I assumed that they followed through with sending her the bike once it was ready. I just sent an email to my media contact from ZumZum to let them know that you won a giveaway on another blog and aren’t able to reach them. I will let you know if I hear back.
