ECO lunchbox review Oval lunchboxThank you to ECO lunchbox for the product in exchange for review. All opinions are my own.

When I got pregnant with my first baby, I, like I’m sure many other new moms, had a very fairy tale like expectation of the mom I would be! Some of the things I dreamily thought about was a perfectly clean house, perfectly folded and put away laundry everyday, growing my own vegetable garden, harvesting my own vegetables and then turning said vegetables into perfect puree baby food! I got as far as growing and harvesting my own vegetables, not too bad for  a new mom! Surprisingly enough I found myself thinking the same things when pregnant the second time, can you say pregnancy amnesia?!

Anyways since then I’ve sort of learned to make my daily tasks a low quota to fill, as in, I’m happy I got the dishes done even if its the only thing I did that day. So like I said before there were a lot of things I wanted to do but the one I made my priority was food, whole foods cooked from scratch. This was easy while my little ones were primarily breastfeeding but once we moved onto established solids it got a bit more complicated. There were many times in that period I found myself out and about and realized “oh wow its lunch time, the kids are melting down, I need to get food in them fast”. Given that I was already busy running errands I didn’t have much time to spare and unfortunately fast food would be my only option. After a few times of that occurrence, I decided I wanted to better prepare myself for outings and errand running by packing fresh fruits and vegetables to bring along with us just in case. Initially I went with some glass containers to avoid the many issues with plastic choices. The glass is great overall, but it has a downside, the lids are still plastic, which in turn means when my kids drop them at the park, or on the sidewalk, the lids and their plastic side clips just can’t hold up.  I figured this was just how it was and I had to deal, honestly a different material never occurred to me! That is until I was offered the ECO lunchbox to review!

Eco lunchbox is a company that makes stainless steel…you guessed it, lunch boxes! Using stainless steel makes this lunchbox not only sturdy and durable but friendly to our health and our environment! The owners at ECO lunchbox participated in a planet impact study that helped them determine just how much they along with every customer who buys, contributes to the health of our environment! With over 220,000 and counting lunch boxes sold, they have offset CO2 emissions equivalent of 2.5 million pounds of coal burned! Now most everyone might not see that as tangible as very few of us know a lot about coal burning, so i’ll show you a more relatable equivalent, their lunch boxes sold has reached the equivalent to  offsetting the greenhouse gas emissions from 5,469,048 miles driven by passenger vehicles! Thats one heck of an environmental impact for just one company!

Upon receiving the ECO lunchbox, I was very anxious by the way, I received a personalized info card with other products I could obtain! So I opened a beautiful 100% recycled package to reveal a very sleek metal lunchbox. Why would I mention sleekness you say? Another downside to those glass containers I mention earlier, they have small weird grooves in the lids that feel impossible to ever get really clean. This lunchbox also features extremely smooth functioning stainless steel clips to hold the lid on. That’s right, no broken plastic spilled sadness on the sidewalk! The specific lunchbox I was sent was the stainless steel oval lunchbox set which also contained a smaller spill proof container inside, which I vigorously put to the test, via water and violent shaking. I was really trying to simulate toddler carry and fall action here, but alas no leaks, not even a drop! While I was hoping for the lunchbox to be able to be used by my fiancé since he works at a metal manufacturing company and sending glass with him is just asking for broken containers, the sizing is a bit on the smaller side for an adult, at least for my fiancé. It is the perfect size for my toddler’s lunch and will continue to be a perfect fit until they turn into bottomless pits in the teenage years, then again maybe I’d just send them with two lunch boxes!
