The kids are thrilled that Summer is finally here. Now that June has rolled in, the ominous threat of a late Spring snowstorm is gone and we can finally breathe a sigh of relief here in Minnesota. We’ve actually had considerably good weather this year and the kids and I have been taking full advantage of it by spending lots of time outdoors. While we enjoy playing in our sandbox, on the swingset, and jumping on our trampoline, our entire family also enjoys yard games. So when I had the opportunity to check out a classic game with a twist, I was excited.
COOP Sport’s Scatter Dodgeball brings an update to the ever-popular game of dodgeball. Included with this set is:
- 1 Dodgeball
- 1 Dice Ball
- 12 Wristbands (two of each color)
- Instructions
How To Play: Geared for 2 to 6 players, each player receives two wristbands of the same color to start. All players circle up around the black dodgeball and one player rolls the dice ball. Whichever player’s wristbands that match the dice ball roll is “it”! So the player runs for the dodgeball and then throws at other players. Any player that gets hit loses a wristband to the “thrower”. Also, if a player is able to catch the throw successfully, the “thrower” must then give up one of their bands to the catcher.
How To Win: The first player to get all the wristbands wins!
Optional Play: Once a player looses both of their wristbands, they can either be “out” or else the game can be played the alternative way where they are still allowed to intercept a throw and gain back wristbands.
Overall Thoughts: Scatter Dodgeball is so much fun! We all enjoyed it and could not stop laughing. We learned quickly, though, that we needed to set boundaries to keep the players in closer proximity since our age range was from 4 to adult. Overall, great game. The only thing I’d love to see is more color bands included in case any go missing over time.

I loved playing dodgeball as a kid in school. What a great way for the family to bond and get exercise at the same time. I’ve not seen the use of the colored bands with the game so this is unique. I like your kid’s cute rain jackets too.
