The kids are always fascinated by Science and seeing things up close. So when they saw the Ravensburger Science Smartscope sitting on our table, they couldn’t wait to get it open. Upon un-boxing I was surprised to see that there seemed to be a bit of assembly required so we turned to the instructions. Since it was mostly picture instructions, I handed everything over to the kids and just supervised the assembly process. I was extremely happy and pleasantly surprised when they were able to manage most of the construction alone. I did have to assist with putting the lenses in but they did great with everything else.
Within about 15 minutes, we were set to go. The kids scavenged the house and yard to find some ladybugs, grass, small rocks, a bit of sand, water, and a few other things that they wanted to view through the Smartscope.
The learning curve to use was really simple! There are NO apps required, just the camera mode on a smart phone or tablet. The kids took turns placing their specimens onto the slide and placing under the scope. The knobs on the side allowed the kids to zoom up or down to get a clear view. The results: AWESOME!
Final Thoughts: While I was a little skeptical at first, I’m so glad we picked the Ravensburger Smartscope because it’s really neat. It’s easy enough to use that our 4 year old was finding things and viewing on his own yet interesting enough that our oldest kids (9 and 11) stayed intrigued as well.

I thought ravensburger just did puzzles I didn’t realize they also did so many cool educational games, what a way to get the kids excited and interested in science.

I know my granddaughter would totally love it! She loves bugs and insects. I though Ravensburger only made puzzles. I love their puzzles.

They are getting so techie with kid’s learning “toys” and this was is no different. It’s great to share with the whole family and the older ones can help the younger ones along like you show. It really is simple to learn. Sometimes apps can be a little hard to follow so good there are none here.
