south hollow spirits

I was sent spirits from south hollow spirits. All opinions are my own.

Ryan has two brothers. I often struggle with coming up with gift ideas for them. Like most men, they tend to get gifts like socks, gloves and wallets. While those are very practical, I know that most men don’t get excited about those types of thing. I don’t mind giving practical gifts to people who I give multiple gifts to (like Ryan) but I prefer to get something fun or at least a little exciting for people like my brother-in-laws who I only give one item to.

I had brainstormed one potential gift idea and asked Ryan if he thought his brother would enjoy it. His response was to laugh “I’m sure he could use that, but I think he’d prefer a good drink.”

He was mostly kidding, but after thinking about it more and talking about it more we decided to just get him that drink. His brother enjoys drinking to relax on the weekends, and is particularly interested in domestic spirits. His beer of choice is brewed right here in Michigan. I thought going with a higher end spirit that he might not ordinarily splurge on for himself would be the perfect way to get him a good drink in a way that still felt like a gift. I turned to South Hollow Spirits.

South hollow spirits gin dry line

South Hollow Spirits is based out of Massachusetts. Their distillery is just 2,000 square feet. Their gin and rum products come in unique bottles with labels explaining their batch. They definitely have a personal, small business feel that will appeal to those interested in domestic alcohol.

South Hollow Spirits currently offers four spirits, three types of rum and one gin.

Their amber rum is available in two sizes and includes vanilla and caramel. It’s made from molasses and sugarcane juice that provides a butterscotch-like taste.

Their white rum is made from 100% organic sugarcane and is “clean”, making it ideal for mixing in cocktails as you choose.

Ryan dipped into the South Hollow Spirits spiced rum himself. This has noticeable hints of vanilla and cinnamon which gave it a very festive feeling for the holiday season. It would be great for mixing with eggnog. Ryan later wished that he had saved this one because it “tasted like Christmas” to him which would have made it a really ideal gift. Though I’m sure his brothers will enjoy the others, too.

The last variety is a the Dry Line Gin. It’s made using 100% sugarcane. It’s made using Eastern Red Cedar Tree’s juniper berries that grow near the distillery. The bottle even features an illustration of one particular tree near the distillery that is over 30 feet high. I love the unique touch of the personal illustration on this bottle, and how it’s tied to the local area. This is a great choice for those interested in small distilleries and their histories.

South Hollow Spirits can be purchased from their website. Or view their ‘Where To Buy’ link to find a location near you.

These would make excellent gifts for a number of people I know. I have found that quite a few really like spirits from the smaller distilleries. These look great, and I like the varieties of rum!

Well I never thought of a gift like this at Christmas but it sure is fitting for the season. Plus they may want to share! I don’t drink and know nothing about alcohol, so this would be less intimidating than trying to go to a store and figure it out!

I am not a drinker myself, but I have a father and two brothers who would enjoy good spirits like these! This sounds like a great brand and an awesome gift idea, thank you so much for sharing! 🙂

These would be an excellent idea to gift to my dad. He enjoys rum and trying different products.

Just like microbrews are popular, so are products from lesser known distilleries.

This would be a good gift idea for my father-in-law. I also struggle with coming up with gift ideas for him. He’s the man who already has everything, so he’s hard to shop for. I do like that the rum has 100% organic sugarcane. I prefer products with cleaner ingredients.
