When I look back at photos of Ryan before he committed to Nutrisystem and lost weight, his hair often catches my eye. Ryan was 29 when he started Nutrisystem and we were both aware that hairstyles for men had shifted a lot in the year or so prior to that. The undercuts and other 50’s era haircuts had come back for younger men. Ryan had considered switching up his simple faded haircut for a while because he felt it was a bit outdated for his age. However, he thought he was too old to go for a younger haircut.
After he lost weight and his face slimmed down – he changed his mind. He decided to try an undercut. He did go for one that is much more subtle than many college-age men wear because he feels that is more age appropriate. However, we both fell in love with his new style and he’s kept it the same way ever since. We’ve since realized that many men around his age keep similar haircuts. He wasn’t too old for a modern haircut, he just simply didn’t have the confidence to try something bolder when he was heavier. Now, when I look back and see his simple haircut it as a lack of confidence. I’m so thankful that weight loss made him more comfortable in his own skin. And I still love the haircut!
