With Spring in full swing and Summer just weeks away, I was on a mad hunt for a decent bonnet for our toddler daughter.  The one I had made last Summer no longer fits her well enough to protect from the sun’s harmful rays and I’ve found it quite difficult to find a great bonnet in anything larger than infant sizes.  But just recently, I was introduced to Urban Baby Bonnets and was super excited by what I found.

Sending a big thank you to Urban Baby Bonnets for sending us their awesome modBonnet for review!

One thing I was looking for with a bonnet was sun blockage as well as ear coverage.  Many times, it’s breezy enough out that I would love to have our daughter’s ears protected from that as well as keeping the sun off her face.  So I was excited to review the modBonnet in Calypso from Urban Baby Bonnets.

The UB2 modBonnet offers the widest brim style and most sun protection of all their designs.  Constructed from two layers of summer-weight, easy-care cotton, it’s perfect for any weather that summertime throws your way.

The design of the modBonnet makes it perfect for any type of wear while offering coverage from sun, wind, and rain.  It can easily be worn by little ones in carriers as the brim can be flipped over while the large brim style also makes it ideal for coverage for those nursing mamas.  I did follow the sizing guide and our daughter measured in for a large in this style.

Because I fell in love with UB2 hats, I also purchased the solBonnet in Robins Egg so I would like to share a little bit about this style as well.

The solBonnet sports a slightly shorter and floppier, more garden style brim than the modBonnet.  Upon suggestion from the Urban Baby Bonnets, I did order this in an XL as the solBonnet has a slimmer fit.  However, I do find it to still offer great coverage.

Because it is a floppier design, I do find that she likes it when I flip the brim if it’s windy out as it stays out of her way better then.  The brim stability is geared best for dry summertime activities which would still be great for daily wear.

Both the modBonnet and solBonnet feature an adjustable snap closure to provide the best preferred fit for each person.  This is an awesome feature that I love as it truly extends the wear of these bonnets for years.

All Urban Baby Bonnets products are designed & handmade in the USA and  are guaranteed against manufacturing defects, for LIFE!  This is applies to anyone the bonnet gets passed on to.  How amazing is that!  Plus, their bonnets are fully reversible and super functional.  I can’t recommend UB2 Bonnets enough and, out of these two styles, my favorite is definitely the modBonnet because of the brim stability.  So even though that style costs a little more, I’ll be sure to save up for it when I make my next purchase!

What do you think?  Have you ever seen such darling bonnets before?  The best part is that they also have some great options for boys too!

These are so nice. I really like the large front part that will fold back stay out to shield their face. I am glad they make it in larger than infant size.

  • These are so pretty,I think I’m gonna get some for my grandchildren

These look like the old style bonnets used back in the days of the wagon trains. I like that they’ve added snaps but I know how challenging snaps can be at times. Let us know what you think in another few months when you’ve been using them for a while.
