Thank you to ThunderWorks for providing product in exchange for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

Great Danes are known to be a bit skittish. Ours has fallen into that same arena. Since he was born in the late fall he spent a lot of time indoors during the winter with not a lot of time to socialize. Now that he’s much bigger in the summer time he’s nervous about new people and new dogs. We try to take him out as much as possible now that its nice but still run into skittish times.

We do our best to abide by positive reinforcement only and Pharaoh wears a halter on walks. When we know that he’ll be going out on a walk thats pretty people dense we put on the ThunderWorks ThunderShirt to help give him some extra comfort in such a new environment. We usually combine this with a spray or two of ThunderWorks Calming Spray onto the shirt. This combination hasn’t completely stopped the barking around the house but does give him a little more of a calmer edge out on walks.

In the house we deal with the random person walking by on our sidewalk or person walking their dog on the sidewalk and Pharaoh will bark loudly until he can’t see them anymore.

We tried the ThunderWorks Calming Diffuser to help alleviate that indoor barking behavior but haven’t seen any relief. Instead though we have begun to stand next to him  and talk calmly and softly while petting him which usually helps quiet him and distracts him.

Pharaohs ThunderShirt fits well around the rib cage and neck area but is a bit loose towards the back which is to be expected considering that he’s still so slender being only a pup of 8 months. Most online forums suggested the XL size for a Dane instead of the XXL which is more wide for a breed more similar to a mastiff.

I’m glad that I listened to those people because it seems he has a bit of growing room left to fill in the shirt while still getting use out of it now.

ThunderWorks suggests you use the sprays for at least 30 days to notice big changes so we are working towards that day goal to see for sure if the product will be working as a real solution for us with Pharaoh. In the meantime lots of extra works and patience is going into his regular routine to help him calm and acclimate to new fur friends and people friends!

I have never heard of ThunderWorks before! I love the idea of their products, especially the calming vest. I can definitely see how that would help. Thanks for sharing!
