Christmas rudolph nobake cookies recipe

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Dollar General for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I live in a town that has a population of about 1,200 people. We don’t have a grocery store or even a full sized traffic light (We do have two blinking lights, though!). We have one gas station and a Dollar General. The gas station has a few basic grocery items like bread and milk but the prices are close to double what you’d pay in a grocery sore. For our town, our Dollar General is exremely convenient because their prices are what you’d see in a grocery store (if not cheaper) and we can access the items without driving 15+ minutes to another town.

Christmas nobake cookies

I recently had a craving for no-bake cookies which are a family favorite. In years past I had considered making no-bake cookies for our Chrismas parties but they didn’t seem quite festive enough. I thought I would try making them more “chriastmassy”. I thought I could turn the no-bake cookies into Rudolph and Onament designs so I headed to Dollar General to stock up on ingredients! Almost everything I needed was available in the Dollar General store brand which is Clover Valley.

Here are the basic no-bake recipes I used:

Chocolate No-bake prep time: <5 minutes. Cook time: 1 minute.

For chocolate nobakes you need:

3 cups of quick coats

1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet)

1/2 cup of peanut butter

1/2 cup of butter

1/2 cup milk

1 3/4 cups sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Step 1: Combine milk, sugar and butter on the stove top.

Step 2: Combine oats, chocolate chips, peanut butter and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl.

Step 3: Bring stovetop mixture to a boil and keep it boiling for 60 seconds.

Step 4: Remove stovetop mixture from heat and pour into the mixing bowl.

Step 5: Mix contents of bowl thoroughly.

Step 6: Create 2-2.5 inch cookies on waxed paper. For making reindeer & ornaments, flatten the cookies a little instead of leaving them lumpy.

The peanut butter nobake recipe that I used:

3/4 cup milk

1.5 cups peanut butter

5 cups quick oats

Directions:

Step 1: Combine milk, sugar and butter on the stove top.

Step 2: Combine oats, peanut butter and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl.

For making reindeer, leave a little peanut butter nobake left over. For making ornaments, make the cookies flattened circlces instead of leaving them lumpy.

Reindeer or Rudolph Christmas cookies with chocolate and peanut butter nobakes

To make Reindeer or Rudolph nobakes:

Ingredients: Chocolate + Peanut butter nobakes from above, mini pretzle twists and mini marshmellows. If making rudolph, a red m&m or other circular red candy.

1. Start with your round, flat chocolate nobake.

2. Add about 1/2 teaspoon of Peanut Butter no-bake batter towards the bottom center of the cookie to create the nose/mouth.

3. Take a mini marshmellow and cut it in half length wise. Place the marshmellow halves to create eyes.

4. Place two mini pretzles on the top of either side of the cookie to create the antlers.

5. To make rudolph, place a red m&m on the top center of the nose.

Let cool for 45 minutes and they’ll be ready to enjoy!

Nobake cookie ornaments for christmas dessert

To make no-bake ornaments:

Ingredients: Chocolate no-bakes OR peanut butter no-bakes from above, miniature marshmellows, sour strip candy (or twizzlers), other candy for decoration.

1. Start with a round, flat no-bake cookie.

2. Take a mini-marshmellow and cut a slit in it length-wise.

3. Tear off a sour candy strip (or twizzler piece) about 3 inches long. Form a loop and then place both ends of the loop into the slit in the marshmellow.

4. Place the marshmellow on top of the cookie.

5. Use candy to decorate the cookie like an ornament. I used sour strips of candy to create zig-zags and m&m’s to create polka dots.

Let cool for 45 minutes and they’ll be ready to enjoy!
