Oh Emily, Thank you for this post. We have an usually small Frenchie whose body is shaped like a pug and she has the coloring of allot of puggers fur babies. We took her to the Vet today because of a problem with one of her eyes. I started doing research and found your post. I realize that Bridget’s eye problem stems from a dry eye condition. Again, thank you.

My vet recommended Genteel lubricate for moderate or severe dry eye. You can purchase it at any local store…Walgreens, CVS..etc.

The dark spots on their eyes is called pigmentary keratitis. You may notice your dog nipping at the flutters & Spots in the air.

My 14-year-old pug was diagnosed at Norwalk veterinary Eye clinic in 2005. He was prescribed an ointment called tacrolimus which can come in and eyedrop form or a cream. Being how strong & squirmy my Duke was we opted for the eyedrops. To the very last day when I had him he would demand a treat every time he was a good boy for the eyedrops. 😉

We have a pug with an eye problem and we used the Bayer eye lubricant and it work wonderful , but now we can’t find this product anywhere. Pets mart,amazon,eBay even the Bayer company doesn’t have it . Why is this a problem to find? My poor dog suffers with his dry eye . HELP please!!

I use puralube vet ointment. 8 bucks on Amazon. My vet used to charge 30 for a prescription the same size. My dog has had eye issues since six weeks old, so he’s used to it.

thanks for the info I will have to shop our local store for the Bayer product, I was shocked to see Bullit’s eye all red and bulging out so much, I am taking care of him for my grandkids, since they can’t have a dog in their rental.

It seems certtain purbreds have their own particular problems. I knew pugs had eye problems and they could prolapse easily. I had aa chow who had to have eye surgery as he eyelids were rolling inwards. Most people dont know this but chows who might appear mean generally arent after the surgery if thats whats bothering them! Their eyes hurt, and some are in terrible pain or going blind.

Watch them playing or being too excited, their eyes can pop out then also. I always worry about my Pug’s eyes. I did not know they had these drops, I have to check them out.

Thanks for the review. I’m curious as to if my dogs would benefit from these, but i don’t see them hinting that their eyes are bothering them
