“”Veterinary Drugs — Tacrolimus Eye Drops
Tacrolimus is an anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive drug, often prescribed in veterinary medicine for the ophthalmic treatment of KCS. The ophthalmic drops work to stimulate the tear glands and prevent further destruction of tissue. Some animals with KCS resulting from abnormal activity of the immune system may need to undergo Tacrolimus therapy throughout life.”” – diamondbackdrugs.com
My 14-year-old pug was diagnosed at Norwalk veterinary Eye clinic in 2005. He was prescribed an ointment called tacrolimus which can come in and eyedrop form or a cream. Being how strong & squirmy my Duke was we opted for the eyedrops. To the very last day when I had him he would demand a treat every time he was a good boy for the eyedrops. 😉
