Go-To Foods For Breaking Your Fast / Intermittent Fasting Help

Have you heard about intermittent fasting as a way to lose weight and feel better?  It’s been something that has been growing in popularity and it’s easy to see why.  Intermittent fasting isn’t necessarily a ‘diet’ but more of a lifestyle.  Instead of denying yourself, you just delay.

What Is Intermittent Fasting?

There are several popular ways to intermittent fast.

  1. Partial Day Fasting.  So, for example, with the 16/8 Method you would fast for 16 hours each day and then eat during an 8 hour window.  (You can choose if you want to do a 16/8, 18/6, etc.)
  2. The 5:2 diet: Fast for 2 entire days per week.
  3. Eat-Stop-Eat: Do a 24-hour fast, once or twice a week.
  4. Alternate-day fasting: Fast every other day.
  5. The Warrior Diet: Fast during the day, eat a huge meal at night.
  6. Spontaneous meal skipping: Skip meals when convenient.

Intermittent fasting is definitely not for everyone.  It’s not something that anyone needs to do but it can be another tool in the toolbox that can be useful for some people.

Personally, I was able to lose 15 pounds in 2020 through the use of 18/6 intermittent fasting.

Unique Individuals = Unique Results

While we are all highly unique individuals, and the foods that make one person feel well, and support their goals, don’t always work well for other people. Focus on the clean fast. Experiment and figure out what foods and eating schedule works for your body and support your goals.

Over time with fasting our bodies are naturally drawn to healthier foods. With appetite correction we learn to eat the appropriate amounts of food for our bodies on any particular day.

Nobody knows what works for your body, except you.  But here is a list of great options you may want to try:

  • Oatmeal

I have not tried it. I feel better if I have 6 tiny meals a day. It just works best for me. I am not diabetic but my sugar does spike and drop. This works best for my body but this is interesting for my husband.

I have never done intermittent fasting on purpose before, but this sounds like something I do often naturally. I have never been a big food person, I do love it but never in big portions. I love snacking throughout the day, and eating healthier makes me feel so much better and have more energy.

I love anything with avocado. Never have tried fasting. I know it works well for some people.

I have read a little about intermittent fasting but have never really got serious about doing it. And I don’t know why. I think it is something I could do but it is just something that you have to make your self do. All the food and the pictures made me so hungry

I need to eat more wholesome at breakfast time, but I always feel stuck in a rut. These ideas are great! I actually had popcorn for breakfast last weekend, but it wasn’t very filling. I’ll have to try some apple slices in almond butter tomorrow morning.

Thank you for the wonderful list of foods! I’ve been doing the 16/8 and lost 10 pounds the first week. Now I’m struggling with knowing exactly what I should eat or shouldn’t eat. What kind of yogurt? Can you have granola? These are the things I have questions about and looking for answers lots of other questions, but these are the things that came to mind first.
