Did you realize the bidet is an invention from furniture makers dating back to the 17th century!? I had no idea! I’ve been hearing about Bidets for years now but never took the leap to actually try one… till now! So if you’re like me, this post is for you! I’m sharing all the info you need to make a decision on if a Bidet is the right choice for you and your family.
What Is A Bidet?
A full bidet is a bowl or receptacle designed to be sat on for the purpose of washing the human genitalia, perineum, inner buttocks, and anus. The modern variety includes a plumbed-in water supply and a drainage opening and is thus a type of plumbing fixture subject to local hygiene regulations. The bidet is designed to promote personal hygiene and can be a completely separate fixture, or now can be added to your current toilet for space saving, easy use. The latter is often times referred to as an ‘add on bidet’.

Better Personal Hygiene:
Personal hygiene is more easily improved and maintained more accurately with the combined use of both toilet paper and a bidet, compared the use of toilet paper alone. Addressing hemorrhoids and genital health issues might also be facilitated by the use of bidet fixtures.

With the use of an add on bidet, little or no toilet paper is necessary; helping save on resources. Last year, when toilet paper was in short supply, this became even more important. “Scientific American has also reported that if the US switched to using bidets, 15 million trees could be saved every year.”

Bidets are becoming increasingly popular for the simple fact that they are easy to use. All ages and different abled people have been able to master the use of bidets. This includes elderly and handicapped, affording greater independence to some who may have had to rely on others before.

We did have an electrician come out and add a plug-in behind the toilet to keep that mostly out of view as I didn’t want a cord coming around the front of the toilet. Then, we just hooked the water up to the toilet directly.

Ever time I hear the work bidet it makes me smile. I worked for a plumbing mfg company YEARS ago and we made parts for them. I have one woman that worked in the office with me and I had to explain what one was and used for. The expression on her family makes me wish I had a camera at the moment.
This looks very simple and easy to attach I would like to have this

I have definitely heard of bidets before, but had no idea they have made such a come back! The fact about saving 15 million trees a year really intrigues me. I know that most people probably use way too much toilet paper (especially my kids who I have to constantly remind) and this would be a real game changer! I think more people should look into getting one for this reason alone. The heated seat feature is really cool too!

I love that it has a heated seat and warm feature! Two really awesome comfort features that not all of them have! Easy install is a huge plus! We currently use wipes here for #2 and I bet this would save on SO much waste!!
This is interesting. I have never used a bidet. I saw them in France but never tried to use it. I hear men love them.
