I don’t exactly remember how it happened, but I’ve been talking with Alicia who blogs over at Mccrenshaw’s Newest Thoughts for several months. She recently started an etsy shop called mccrenshaw’s newest knits and was nice enough to work with me on a review and giveaway of her knit face scrubbies. I had used some handmade facial pads in the past but they were small and thin compared to the ones found at mccrenshaws newest knits. They are about as big as my palm and thick – almost like taking two of the thin facial pads found elsewhere and then knitting them together into one. I like them better because they don’t try to fold over when I use them to scrub my face, they stay nice and flat. The uneven texture of the pad works nicely to exfoliate while scrubbing. I primarily use these for washing my face but they also work nicely as an alternative to cotton balls. Instead of wasting money on the disposable balls, you can pay for these once and use them for years to remove nail polish or for other cosmetic related purposes.
The kit I got also included a washcloth and mesh bag. The bag is great for using while washing the pads as they are so small that they can easily get trapped in the water if not contained. The washcloth works nicely as a washcloth or I have used it as a hot pad for removing dishes from the oven as well. I was quite pleased with the quality of all the items and have every reason to think they will last me a long time.
In addition to face scrubbies she also offers towels, cat toys, hand towels, mesh produce bags and more. Alicia is open to taking custom orders and can customize her items to your needs. For my pads I had both sides made of cotton yarn, but if you prefer she can make one side out of a combination of cotton yarn and fine tulle which is great for exfoliating the skin. She can also add a small string one side so that the a few fingers can be slipped through, to help hold the pad in face on your hand.
