Prior to creating Education Outdoors, Inc. in 2005, Tim Paczesny founded a non-profit organization in Michigan called “The League of Extraordinary Outdoorsmen”.  The League was responsible for organizing a free family fishing day held once each year.  During one of these annual events, Tim became aware of the need to educate families about the outdoors.  Then while Tim and his family were enjoying an outdoor experience, one of his daughters asked him now he came to know so much about nature.   That prompted Tim to create his first educational board game which was called “Camp—The Game That Grows With You.”

For our review, we received a new version of “Fishing Camp, The Game”.   This game can handle up to 8 players and is geared for ages 4 and up (multi-generational play).   At first, I didn’t know what “multi-generational play” meant but I soon found it.  It means that although a 4-year old will enjoy playing the game, there needs to be an older person (another generation) playing the game also because there’s some reading involved.

When we played the game, there were players ages 3 to 57; everyone seemed to enjoy this game. One of the 5-year olds might have enjoyed it a little more because he won!   To quote him….it was “absolutely fantastic”.

The kids not only enjoyed answering the questions but also being able to “catch” fish when they answered the question correctly.   They also liked learning various facts about fishing and boating as well as the names of different types of fish.

Grandpa liked the fact that the game wasn’t frustrating for either of them and the instructions were easy to understand and to explain to a child.

There is only one thing that we would recommend changing about the game and that is the playing pieces that are made out of cardboard.  They kept falling apart and the game would have to be stopped so the pieces could be put back together again.
