As some of you may know, I am trying to lose weight, get in shape, and learn how to make better choices with my food.  Two of the ways I can work toward these goals is by watching my portion sizes and by learning what nutritional values are in each of the items that I eat.

EatSmart wants to help you live your healthiest and happiest life possible. They have a variety of products to teach you how to make better decisions when it comes to your nutritional diet and food intake. For my review, I received the NEW EatSmart Precision Elite Kitchen Scale. With this scale, I can weigh my foods to ensure I am getting proper portions and it will also help me calculate the calories that each food item contains.

The Precision Elite has a large backlit LCD screen making it easy for you to see your readings. A large stainless steel platform provides a sturdy foundation for the item being weighted. It also comes with the EatSmart Calorie Factors booklet which contains calorie content for many popular foods.

I think in today’s society we often believe that bigger is better but that certainly is not the case when it comes to our food and our bodies. The portions we are served in restaurants have gotten out of hand. I recently went to one of our local restaurants and ordered a grilled chicken salad, no cheese, no croutons, and vinaigrette on the side. I was given a dinner plate with about 2 cups of “bag-o-salad” and THREE grilled chicken breasts. I was stunned. I immediately asked the waiter to bring me a to-go box and I packaged two of the chicken breasts to eat at another meal.

Before starting this journey, I thought I knew what healthy serving sizes were and had a pretty good idea of the nutritional value of what I was putting on my plate–but boy I was wrong! Thank you EatSmart for helping me realize what I was putting into my body and how to make better choices for my health and happiness.
