My Mom called me one day to tell me about a product she had seen on TV. She thought it was an innovate idea and really wanted to give it a try. I contacted the company and they were more than happy to send us one to try. For our review, we were sent a Magic Tap drink Dispenser. Here is what my Mom had to say about the Magic Tap-

The Magic Tap drink dispenser is a brilliant idea. We have 5 grandkids in our family and it seems that at least one of them is thirsty for a drink about every 15 minutes.  We try to let the kids be as independent as possible.  Pouring their own drinks is one of the activities that they would like to be able to do themselves; however, we’re a little hesitant since the containers are usually so large and heavy.  Our oldest two grandchildren are 5 years old so there are limitations as to how much they can easily lift.

My thought was I could purchase smaller containers to put the milk or juice in but that meant a more crowded refrigerator since I would have multiple containers holding the same beverage.   When I saw the Magic Tap advertised on TV, I thought that had to be the greatest invention I’d seen in a long time.  I had to have one!

As soon as the Magic Tap drink Dispenser arrived, I immediately put it on a gallon jug of milk.  We were with 4 of our grandchildren at the time (one is less than a year old so she wasn’t part of our “test panel”).   Our test panel consisted of two 5 years olds and two that are 3-1/2 years old.   They were able to move the on/off switch to the on position and press their cups against the blue dispenser lever so they could fill their own cups.   The only draw back to this was that they were using disposable cups and one cracked because it was pressed too hard against the blue lever.

I did notice that after the kids served themselves, there were a few drips of milk that leaked out of the spout and onto the counter but that was easier to clean up than a full gallon of spilled milk.  The look on their faces when they were able to get their own drinks was worth it.

I also tried putting the cap onto a half gallon container of juice and it worked just as well on that container.

The only negative feature I ran in to was the height of the container once I put the Magic tap on the milk/juice bottle.  It’s too high for the shelves in my refrigerator.  I’m sure that won’t be the case for all refrigerators.

Magic Tap is battery operated so can be taken anywhere, even camping or to a picnic.

Magic Tap is on Facebook and Twitter. IdeaStream is on Facebook and Twitter.
