By now most people have probably caught on to the growing trend of decorating your walls with wall stickers (also called wall decals). I’ve seen them used in homes of my friends and family members, but I think they are especially great for people who are renting and are unable to paint, because it lets them change things up and lets them personalize their walls, but because wall decals can be removed easily without damaging walls, they can be used by renters.
Dezign With A Z is a company who has a huge selection of wall stickers for you to decorate your home with. They have quote decals, chalkboard decals, mirror decals, tree wall decals and even custom wall decals. With their custom decals, you can turn your photos into decals, or design a quote in the size, font and wording of your choice. My bedroom walls are a light but bright blue, so to avoid colors clashing I went with black. The font used is NevilleScript Regular.
I was excited to get the wall sticker up on my wall as soon as I got it in the mail. To apply, you first use a squeegee to thoroughly go over the entire surface of your decal, so that the decal itself will adhere to the “clear” side of the decal. Then remove the white backing. Seems how my quote was long and the font was a bit thin and wispy, I would start to remove the white part and realize the decal wasn’t fully stuck to the clear side, so I’d simply put the white side back, and squeegee the area that wasn’t adhering properly, then try again. I had to do this a few times but it’s not a big deal as long as you go slowly so that you catch the mistake early. Once the white backing is gone, line the clear side of the decal where you would like it on the wall. I asked Ryan to “eyeball” it from several feet away from the wall while I held it so that it wasn’t quite touching. Once he said ti was level, I let it down. Now use the squeegee to go over the surface of your decal so that it adheres to your wall. Then remove the clear side slowly. Again, if you notice that your decal isn’t applying to the wall, put the clear backing back down and squeegee that specific area again.
I am really happy with how the decal looks against my wall. It’s a great size for being over my bed. My niece came over a few days after it had been applied and she thought I had written on the wall because it blends in so nicely. I’m really happy with it, and plan to keep it up for a long time but it’s nice to know that if we move or decide to paint, it can easily be removed without causing any damage.
