A little background info about the queenofalltrades etsy shop owner.

My name is Lauren. I grew up in Arcadia, Ca.and went to private school in Monrovia,Ca. Growing up I always had some kind of craft or art project going on. I would ‘borrow’ the money from my Mom to fund these craft adventures, then I would take them to church with me and sell my crafts to the church ladies.I learned the principles of supply, demand and the art of a sales pitch, early on in life. By the time I had graduated H.S.,I had a passion for Art and Science. What a split, huh? I chose the Art side of life and pursued fashion design. I loved it at first, then the things I loved to do,became tasks that I had to do. I decided to save my talents for enjoyment, not employment. So I switched my major(to my other passion)and began taking courses in the Health Sciences. To finance my school costs, I used all my crafting, art and basic marketing talent to make ends meet. This is about the time I discovered Etsy. A fellow vendor at a craft fair in Walnut, Ca. reffered me, and I’ve been hooked ever since. So here I am today, a Nurse and I love it! My background in Art helps me to think outside the box everyday! My Husband and I met 10 years ago, dated for 5, and Married for 1. Now we live in Beautiful Lake Isabella, Ca. It’s about 1hr NE of Bakersfield. Lake Isabella is definitely a tourist town. The sidewalks roll up at 8pm or earlier during the winter months. So, city folk beware!

About my Potpourri Adornments, I love making these. At one point, I seen a Victorian wreath advertised in an old catalog. It said something like ‘give one to a beloved friend’. The wreath was HUGE. It had dried flowers from the garden arranged strategically around the circular base which hung by a gigantic fabric bow. Shortly after that I seen a killer deal on some beautiful potpourri. I put 2 and 2 together and VOILA! Potpourri Adornments.I wanted to give the feel of the victorian tradition, but not in the victorian size. Making these are relaxing, like putting together a puzzle. I’m a stickler for balance and symmetry. Each adornment is handmade. Each piece is glued on where it fits. It’s like a hanging potpourri sculpture! The only bad part of making this craft is the clean-up. I’ve recently added Potpourri wreaths to my etsy shop along with some other crafts like jewelry and paper banners. Since, etsy is a craft adventure for me right now, I hope to see steady sales so that I can get a turnover on the crafts I have stored away.
