We Do Listen is a company that has a creative line of stories written to teach children valuable life lessons. Their aim is to help children learn how to better communicate their feelings while getting in touch with how they feel about the events going on in their life.

We Do Listen uses a character named Howard B. Wigglebottom to engage young readers.  Howard B. Wigglebottom and We Do Listen have earned many awards for their educational books, posters, games, activities, songs, and lessons.

For our review, we received two Howard B. Wigglebottom books:   Learns to Listen and Listens to His Heart.

When Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns to Listen, he shows his readers what could happen if you don’t listen well. While not listening, Howard gets in to trouble at school, upsets a friend, and gets hurt on the playground. These are situations children can sympathize with. Then Howard teaches the skills needed to be a good listener. He demonstrates sitting quietly, using his eyes and ears to listen, not interrupting, asking questions to better understand and being alert to what is going on around him.

Learning to Listen to His Heart is another of Howard B. Wigglebottom’s adventures. Howard is struggling to find things that he is good at doing. He enjoys doing lots of things but doubts his abilities when his friends tease him. Howard’s Grandpa suggests to Howard that he participate in activities that he enjoys rather than always trying to be the best at things. Howard decides to take his Grandpa’s advice by participating in different activities for the simple fun of it. Howard sees that we all have special abilities and that we can be proud of who we are.

My Daughters are 3.5 and almost 6 years old. Howard B. Wigglebottom books are perfect for teaching them life lessons in a way that they can understand and relate to. We have a few of Howard’s books and love them all.
