Did you know that Mercer Mayer was born is December 30, 1943? As a kid, his Little Critter series of books were definitely one of my favorite types of books. I loved searching for the frogs and grasshoppers throughout the pages. My ultimate favorite was Just Me In The Tub. Now I love reading them with my nieces and nephews and I’m sure someday I’ll read them to my own kids as well. To help Celebrate Mercer Mayer’s birthday, next month Silver Dolphin Books will be releasing the very first Little Critter app which is going to be called Little Critter: The Trip. The app will include fun activities and games that reinforce early learning skills like learning colors, numbers, shapes, etc. Here’s a sneak peak image from the new app.
In Little Critter: The Trip, you will be able to take an action-packed car trip with Little Critter, Little Sister, Mom and Dad in which everything imaginable happens—literally—from A to Z, in this fun-filled interactive app! “B is for bad”when the “T is for tire” goes flat! And “L is for lost” when where did the “R is for road” go? Little Critters’ trip is full of humorous ups and downs like the actual road they’re following! It’s up to you and Little Critter to help find the way, fix the car when it breaks down, and play lots of fun “G is for games” with Little Sister to pass the time! Kids learn along with Little Critter as, true to his nature, he cheers you on to scale new heights!
With his birthday actually being this month, we don’t want to wait until then to celebrate. So Silver Dolphin is offering these Little Critter E-cards for free that you can send to your friends.
And last but certainly not least, I get to help you guys celebrate this birthday too. We’re having a giveaway (below) for Little Critter’s Snowball Soup. This is a paperback “My First I can Read” book that is aimed at children ages 4+. Here in Michigan we haven’t really had any snow yet but hopefully by the time a winner is drawn we’ll have some snow so your child(ren) can enjoy this book while making a snowman or even snowball soup of their own. This book copy is extra special because it’s going to be signed by Mr. Mayer himself!
Connect: You can connect with silver dolphin on Twitter and Facebook as well as their blog.
Win it: A signed paperback copy of Little Critter’s Snowball Soup.

I read these books to my children and now to their children. These are nice, funny, easy to read books that won’t bore an adult. And finding the spider is always fun!

I always loved reading Mercer Meyer books to my children when they were little. I must confess, I have held on to some of their children’s book and read them still. They bring back such sweet memories. I can’t wait until I have grandkids.
