Oh my gosh…I’m in love….with Old World Gourmet! Old World Gourmet began in 2001 and at that time, founders Dan and De’Anna Sullivan had just two items in their product line. Fast forward to 2013 and they have over 100 products for their fans to choose from. You’ll notice that I said “fans” and not “customers” because that is what I now am….a FAN of Old World Gourmet.
For my review, I received three of the Old World Gourmet Vino Freeze Mixes. My selection included the Sangria, PeachBellini and Blueberry Pomegranate flavors. I also received a box of the Old World Gourmet Cracker Smack. According to what is written on the box, Cracker Smack” kicks crackers in the ass!”
The recipe on the boxes indicated that I could use red wine for the Sangria mix and white wine or champagne for the PeachBellini and Blueberry Pomegranate mix. On the day that my Old World Gourmet products arrived, I had none of these alcoholic beverages in my home. Go figure!
Because I couldn’t wait to try these items, I asked myself how I could make a “virgin” variety of these drinks and I decided to try the diet tonic and seltzer waters that were in the house. Well, diet tonic may not be your “cup of tea” but it was a wonderful mixer for my Old World Gourmet Vino Freeze mixes. Obviously, if I were to put them in the freezer, they would have frozen into a solid block but I decided to just put them in a blender with lots of ice. VIOLA, within seconds I had a little bit of heaven in my glass!
I honestly can’t tell you which flavor I liked the most. I called in my husband to see if he could pick a favorite and he was as stumped as I was. We also tried the powder mixes with plain sparkling water and they were also very very excellent but they didn’t have the extra little kick that we got using the tonic water. I can only imagine how good they would be with some wine!
That brings us to the Cracker Smack. The instructions recommended using the entire packet of mix for a full box of saltine crackers (4 tubes)….I only had 3 tubes in the house so I cut the recipe in half. Let me just say OMG to OWG. Those crackers do kick other “crackers in the ass!” You will want to make them a day before you plan on serving them so you have plenty of time to let these crackers sit and mature after you follow the recipe.
I can’t wait to serve these items to house guests but they’d better plan on visiting soon or they’ll all be gone!

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast.
