The kids are back in school, so here comes the homework. Whether your kids have research papers, essays or just 5th grade math that you have to research so that you can help them out, having reliable internet at home and being able to access internet across multiple devices is essential for households like mine where someone works from home and needs to be online almost all of the time, but others want online occasionally too.
I’ll admit that I don’t know much about routers – I just want my computer and internet to work for me. So, I had Ryan set up the Linksys EA6500 Smart Wi-fi router for us which was easy for him. He was interested in features such as cloud services (that are optional and can be turned off) and the ability to connect 7+ devices which is great for our home because we have three computers, a smartphone with bad service (so we often connect it to our home wifi) and we run Netflix through our Google TV, for a total of five devices. We don’t even have children, so I’m sure people with teens use even more than we do.
If you have children at home, you’ll probably appreciate the parental controls that allow you to turn off internet access to some devices (like your teens laptop) while leaving others on, and controlling the content that your children can access.
As I mentioned, I don’t know much about routers but I know that our old one was kind of outdated. Since making the switch,we have had less problems with our Netflix having to stop and reload mid-episode and youtube videos seem to load quicker from our computers which makes the EA6500 router a winner for me. The only downside I have noticed is the router is on the large side, but it’s well worth having to find the extra space so that we can run more devices at once. The fact that this router can run multiple devices would probably make this a good fit for dorm rooms or one or two household apartments as well.

We have at least 5 devices going online all the time, so this is a big help. My kids love getting on Netflix and when our router has a hiccup it causes a huge uproar in our home.

This looks like a router I need to look into fast, my poor router is not providing me as to what I need. It is forever causing many connection problems.
