Back in October I shared a blog post discussing Why I love My Boba Wrap carrier. After Kelsie hit the 15lb mark, I was eager to try more carrier types such as the BobaAir because it works for babies 15-45lbs. It can be worn as a front carrier for babies 15-30lbs and as a back carrier for babies 20-45lbs.

Kelsie is 10 months old and 17lbs so she has to be worn in the front for a little while yet. She is really active and wiggly now, pulling up to furniture and even walking between pieces of furniture now, so she isn’t one to want to hold still for long unless she’s tired or not feeling so great. I’ve really liked having the carrier for when she is tired or teething. Some days when she’s teething or feeling a little off, she doesn’t want to be put down at all which is really difficult to do when I also am watching her 3 year old brother, so the BobaAir is wonderful to have around.

I love how it folds up into such a small pouch that I can throw it in a medium to large size purse or diaper bag and take it anywhere we go. Instead of being a separate bag that you have to keep track of, the pocket is part of the carrier so it just folds into itself for storage (think Popples stuffed toys from the 80’s). The fact that it’s so portable makes it a great option for shopping, doctors office visits, and other in and out type trips where it would be nice to have a carrier to use but frustrating to drag a bulkier carrier along in case it doesn’t get used. I am not skilled at folding things in general and anytime that I try to dissemble something and put it back into the bag or box that it came in, I end up asking Ryan to figure it out instead because I can never get it to fit. In our house, it’s his job to repackage toys, strollers, play yards, etc because I just end up frustrated with them. That isn’t an issue with the Boba Air though, I’ve never had a hard time getting it to flip back into itself to zip up in the pocket – you don’t have to get “the perfect fold” to make it work, you just ball it up and it fits just fine.

If Kelsie falls asleep in the carrier it has a hood that I can put over her head that connect to the shoulder straps so that she has a bit of head and neck support. The entire carrier is a thin material (100% nylon) so even if i’m moving around a lot I don’t get sweaty (and she doesn’t seem to either) in this carrier. I haven’t had it during summer months yet but I would think it would be a great choice for warmer weather because of the thin material. The shoulder and waist straps do not have padding like the traditional Boba Carrier does but at 17lbs I’ve had Kelsie in this for 45+ minutes without feeling any strain or discomfort from carrying her.

The only thing about the BobaAir that was difficult was getting the carrier on the first couple of times. I didn’t realize that I needed to loosen the straps a LOT before I put them on. If I put Kelsie against me and then tried to pull the back over her and over my shoulders with the straps only slightly loosened ,she’d get fussy – I assume because it was tugging on her somehow. If I make the straps really loose first, this doesn’t happen. I also felt like the straps were too far spaced apart, almost like they were on the ball of my shoulder (as you can see in some of these photos). I later realized that allowing the side straps to be looser but tightening the straps between my shoulder blade would adjust the carrier so that she was snug against me but the shoulder straps were positioned better.

The weight limit of 45lbs means that a lot of kids will fit into this until age 4 or so. Drew will be 3.5 next month and weighs in at around 34lbs. Another great thing about the BobaAir is the price – it’s $65 which is great considering a lot of kids will fit into this carrier from 4-5 months of age up through about age 4.  Putting the carrier on and off is pretty simple which is great for wiggly babies or toddlers who have a hard time deciding (or expressing) what they want. After using the Boba Wrap and now the BobaAir and enjoying them both, I’ve really grown to love the entire Boba Carrier brand.
