*Modarri sent us a trio of car toys for review. All opinions are my own.

My family is full of little boys. I have nephews that are 11, 10, 8, 8, 7, 6, 4, and 4. As the boys get older, I’ve noticed that they often get birthday or Christmas presents that grab the attention of the men in the family and become entertainment for both the boys and the men. I find the toys that grab the attention of such a range of ages to be a great way for boys and their fathers (or older cousins, uncles, etc) to bond. Modarri Car Toys definitely fall into the “for big boys and men” category.

Modarri cars

Modarri Cars are not your average toy car. They are designed for kids ages 8+ and as Modarri puts it, they seek to provide the “ultimate toy car experience.” Modarri cars are made with real mechanics including real suspension, and a patented steering system, finger-sized bucket seat (so you can drive them). My car knowledge is quite limited but I could feel the difference in the suspension when just pushing a Modarri car. It “drives” much more realistically than a simple toy car.

The cars come with cones so that the cars can be used to drive or race. They also include a small screwdriver. The cars have screws in each of the wheels as well as in a few other places on the car so that you can disassemble the cars. If you have two or more cars you can switch the parts between the cars to make a customized vehicle to your liking. The cars can have the wheels, metal frame, hood, fenders, chassis, floor pan, seat, and suspension all removed and swapped out for the pieces of another Modarri car.

The screws are quite small – just a hair larger than eyeglass screws. They are able to be loosened without completely removing the screw (for example, you can remove a tire by loosening the screw in the center of the tire but the screw will remain on the tire instead of coming off). This is so genius because it prevents the screws from getting lost as easily.

While these toys would be great for tween or teen boys interested in mechanics, Ryan found them fun to play with as well.

Modarri offers a trio of cars called the “combo” as well as three regular cars that are sold individually – the T1, S1 and X1. There is also a DIY car that is designed so that you can hand-paint it.

If you have a car-lover on your holiday list this year who is 8+ be sure to check out Modarri.
