I was sent a Butcher Box in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.
Finding high quality, grass-fed beef is tough in certain areas. Butcher Box is a grass-fed beef subscription service that delivers 100% grass-fed beef to your door. Each box contains 6 to 10 pounds of meat, depending on the cut, which works out to about 15-20 meals worth if you eat 6-8oz per meal. All meat is hand-selected from the high quality farms that raise their animals in a natural way on a grass-fed diet. Only 1% of all the beef produced in the US is grass-fed, and many of those farms lack the resources to advertise and distribute their grass-fed beef. Butcher Box helps these grass-fed farmers get their product out to people interested in grass-fed beef in a super convenient way for both the farm and the customer.
The cuts of meat that you get each month will vary, which made getting our box really exciting. Our particular box included two packs of ground beef, four steaks, sirloin tips, short ribs and bacon. So far we’ve tried the steaks, some of the ground beef and some of the bacon. Everything we’ve tried has been absolutely delicious. It was fun to have the cuts selected for us instead of choosing ourselves because it caused us to step outside of our normal routine and try some new recipes. We love steak, but it’s not something we often buy so having sirloin at home was a really nice treat. The cuts were really flavorful without being too fatty. Of course, it’s also great to know that the meat is sourced from grass-fed farms because it’s better for us and it feels great to support the smaller farmers.
Seeing this makes me wish I had more. This steak was savor-every-bite delicious!
I’ve gotten a lot of packages in the last few months as part of my holiday gift guide, but the Butcher Box has been the favorite for me AND Ryan. I put ‘gift for men’ in the title because I know a lot of men who love steak, bacon or meat in general. However, this has also been an exciting treat for me because I love trying new foods. I know a lot of women who are passionate about choosing grass-fed and/or natural meat sources so this would be a great gift for anyone with that interest regardless of gender. You can choose to stick with just beef or to include pork or chicken as well.

This sounds so good, the grass fed beef with no shipping. I would love to try this service, I love that they offer a subscription plan or one time delivery.

The meat is okay.
The service is NOT.
The Butcher Box Company constantly pitches “deals” etc.
If you decide to try one of their deals, like free X with an order of X…or get a friend to sign up and you will get X- this is where this company falls down hard.
They do not deliver on the promise. They say “you ordered it wrong, or you were after the deadline” etc. etc. etc. The problems we have had, through no fault of ours at all, leads me to believe they have no intent on delivering. They just want your $, your email list and your data.
It’s disgusting and disheartening. It is wrong…and they have been wrong. -

My ButcherBox package came 2 days late. The dry ice was long gone; the meat was room temp, completely thawed, and bleeding through the bag into the box.
Their support team does not seem to exist. I sent an email as soon as I saw that my shipment wasn’t delivered on time. Got the auto-reply from Zendesk saying my email was received, no actual answer to the ticket. I called and sent pictures of the thawed and bleeding meat. No reps available on the phone line, no answer to my emails.
This sounds so good, the grass fed beef with no shipping. I would love to try this service, I love that they offer a subscription plan.
