Great pretenders dress up gifts

Great Pretenders sent me dress-up clothing in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

I have a three-year old niece named Kelsie who loves to pretend right now. Just yesterday she was at my house and we were pretending that we were staying at our family cabin, and going to the beach. For the most part, she doesn’t really seem to care what she is pretending. She does a lot of pretend play with baby-dolls, a lot with cooking or fake food, a lot about school, etc. However, she has a particular fondness for tutu’s. Oddly, she doesn’t seem to care about being a princess or a dancer or ballerina. She just likes tutu’s. She has dresses that have a tulle bottom portion that she loves wearing as everyday clothing.

great pretenders cheerleader dress up

I had a bit of a hard time narrowing down my choices from Great Pretenders. I knew Kelsie would be happy to unwrap just about anything that Great Pretenders sells. So, I went back to the idea of how she loves tutu’s and went from there. I found a red cheerleader dress costume with tulle material on the bottom. My 13-year-old sister has been cheer-leading for a few years. Kelsie has went to many of her games and likes attempting to keep up with the cheers herself. I thought she would enjoy being able to be a cheerleader herself and the tulle material on the bottom made it perfect for her. It comes in one size that fits sizes 4-7. She wears about a 4 in shirts and a 3 in bottoms right now, so this will be slightly big for her which I think is perfect for dress-up clothes. I like pretend play costumes to be a bit over sized so they won’t outgrow them quickly and so they are easy for her to put on by herself.

lightning quick adventure chick

The second item that I chose for her was the Lightning Quick Adventure Chick dress-up. This stood out to me because of the tulle bottom. However, she has a 6-year-old brother who is a superhero fanatic who loves superheros, capes, etc. He has several superhero costumes that he uses to dress-up with still, and they definitely catch her eye as well. I thought this would be perfect for her to have her own superhero dress up piece. This is available in one size, medium, which fits kids roughly 42-46.5 inches. That height is much more in line with the size of her 6-year-old brother so again this is a bit big on her. However, that will make it easy for her to put off and on and will give her some room to grow.

Great pretenders rainbow wings

I also picked out a smaller gift for her, Snazzy Sparkle wings and wand set. This set is rainbow-colored including pink, yellow, green and purple. I know Kelsie has a few tutu’s and I am pretty sure she has at least one in one of those colors so she can create her own outfit. There’s something about wings that are just so magical and whimsical. I’m curious to see if she uses these to be a fairy, a butterfly or something else. There are so many creative possibilities with these.

Color your own tiara

Last but not least, a Colour A princess tiara! Great Pretenders is the only place you can find the Colour A….line. This line includes several cape options, as well as a crown, a tiara and more. They come blank and with markers that can be used to color them in. The Princess tiara even has a spot to place a cut-out photo to show who the crown belongs to. It also includes gems that can be attached as ‘bling’ to really make your tiara sparkle.

Visit the Great Pretenders site to see more of what they offer. They have several options for boys which I really appreciate. I have several nephews who went through a dress-up and superhero phase. In fact, I think every one of my nephews has went through that phase. Yet, it’s hard to find dress-up clothing for boys so I love that Great Pretenders has a significant selection aimed at boys. In addition to their dress-up clothing they also have smaller accessories like gloves, wands, tiaras, crowns, rings and other jewelry. Many of their smaller accessories would be great for stocking stuffers.

Win it: A $25 USD gift card to Great Pretenders. Their prices are really reasonable so this will go farther than it might go elsewhere. For example, the cheerleader costume sells for $20, the Lightning quick adventure chick outfit is $28, the Rainbow wing & wand combo is $15, and the colour-a-tiara set is just $10.
