I partnered with Nutrisystem on this post and was compensated. All opinions are my own.
My boyfriend Ryan decided he was ready to work on losing weight in July of 2015. Since then he has lost just over 60 pounds! The change in him is so dramatic. Even though it’s been about a year and a half now, I am still amazed at his change. I look back at photos of him before his weight loss and it’s incredible that it’s the same person that he is now.
He lost the weight thanks to Nutrisystem. Nutrisystem is a program that most people have seen commercials for. However, we’ve learned that many people don’t really understand how Nutrisystem works. It’s a program that makes calorie-counting easy, and cooking easy. A month’s worth of Nutrisystem provides you with 3 meals and 2 snacks per day on the plan that Ryan has chosen. Some plans (such as women’s plans) include slightly less food. The general concept of Nutrisystem is that each meal is within a certain calorie range. For example, one entree might be 250 calories while another is 280 but they are all within a similar range. You won’t find an 80 calorie entree or a 400 calorie entree, for example. This allows you to grab any entree from Nutrisystem and know that it’s within your calorie level. Some entrees are frozen while others are shelf-stable. Some require no cooking at all such as muffins, cereal or meal bars. Others require cooking but most of them require less than 5 minutes in the microwave and they’re ready to go. This makes it quick and easy to eat well even when you’re busy.
Ryan’s plan involves eating six times per day. Three settings that include meal entrees, and then three snack or dessert settings. If you sleep 8 hours a night, that leaves you awake 16 hours per day, meaning you can eat when you wake up, and then once every 3 hours all day until you go to bed. For example:
- 8am – breakfast
- 11 am – Morning snack (PowerFuel and SmartCarb)
- 2pm – Lunch
- 5pm – Afternoon snack
- 8pm – dinner
- 11 pm – Dessert/snack
- 12pm – Go to bed.
When you eat small meals throughout the day this keeps you from getting too hungry at any point. It makes it easier to have portion controlled meals that way. While on Nutrisystem Ryan is not left hungry because the meals are every 3 hours and he gets protein and fiber at each meal setting which help keep him feeling full. Plus, with over 150 meal options Ryan has found plenty of Nutrisystem foods that he loves the taste of. He’s a fairly picky eater, too!
Right now Nutrisystem has a Lean 13 starter kit where you can lose up to 13 pounds and 7 inches in your first month!
