I partnered with FiddlerShop.com on this blog post and was compensated. All opinions are my own.

My parents both enjoy listening to music, but neither were particularly invested in playing music as kids or adults. When I decided to join band in 5th grade they both were a little overwhelmed. I studied early childhood development for a couple of years and read over and over how musical skill can help kids in other areas of school. Many parents want to introduce their kids to playing music not just for the benefit of learning that skill, but for the benefits that come with exploring music and expanding that portion of the mind.

Many people like to introduce their children to the violin at an early age. If you’re in the market to choose a violin for your child, the selection process can be overwhelming. I partnered with FiddlerShop.com on this post to bring you their buyers guide. Violins are available in a wide range of materials, sizes, and price points. Plus there are accessories, and the question about where to place your purchase! That is a lot to wade through, so this guide will prove helpful to parents looking to buy their first violin.

I love how their guide includes sizes based not just on age but also on your child’s arm length as that is a significant factor in playing the violin. The infographic also included several other details that I wouldn’t have immediately thought to consider when purchasing a violin. For instance, the pros and cons of buying online vs in store. Here is the full infographic:

Do your children play a violin? What age did you start? Do you have any advice for choosing the best violin for your child?

I am doing more and more online shopping for things I never thought I’d purchase online. I think buying instruments online could offer great prices and selection. FiddlerShop.com looks like a great place for this!
