Every parent who uses cloth diapers knows that one of the perks of cloth diapering (other than the eco-friendly and health factors) is that they come in SO MANY colors and prints. It gets to the point where even though you don’t necessarily ‘need’ any more diapers you still ‘want’ to get more because they are just too cute. I also know people who started to cloth diaper simply because they couldn’t resist how adorable they look.

Told you they were cute! I can honestly say that Brookiellen Designs has some of the most gorgeous and unique prints I’ve ever seen. And the ruffles… to die for! The best part is you can use them either as a diaper cover or a swim diaper. You can choose between sized diaper covers (newborn, small, medium or large) or you can get a one-size cover that will fit approximately from 7-30+ lbs.

Actually, diaper covers/swim diapers are just one of the products that Brookiellen Designs has for you. She also carries pacifier clips and wetbags which are a must to store dirty cloth diapers but they are also perfect for wet swimsuits, dirty clothes, toiletries, etc. (they have a waterproof PUL lining to contain the mess). You can also find reusable sandwich and snack bags, perfect for lunches, picnics, and snacks on-the-go. Speaking of lunches, take a look at her messenger style and paper-bag style lunch totes! They have a waterproof lining and an insulated layer to keep your lunch cool. The outer layer of all her products is cotton.

In the process of writing this review, Brooke has been more than helpful! She asked for my preference of fabric and closure, we even talked about ruffles and snap colors. She provided me with the information I was looking for and was always quick to respond to my emails. That’s what I call outstanding customer service. As if that weren’t enough, she loves custom requests so she’ll work with you if you have something specific in mind. She currently has 49 fabrics in stock so I’d be shocked if you couldn’t find one that’s perfect for you or your little one.

I received the Aqua Flower Garden Ruffled One-Size Diaper Cover/Swim Diaper. The print is absolutely gorgeous and unlike any other covers we have. The cotton is of great quality and after a few washes, hasn’t faded at all (cold wash is recommended). The ruffles add a super girly touch. I only wish they were sewn a tiny bit higher on the cover so you’d see them more on a smaller baby. My daughter is not very big and the ruffles are lower on her bottom so we can’t see much of them when she’s sitting. As she grows and we use the cover on a larger setting, the ruffles will fall in the perfect position for us to appreciate them. Obviously, with a diaper cover this nice, I don’t need to worry about pants: a cute t-shirt is all she needs. The inside fabric is PUL but unlike other PUL fabrics I’ve seen and touched, it’s soft and doesn’t feel like plastic.

In terms of functionality, we have used this cover during day time and naps with no leaks. I’m sure it would do fine at night if I stuffed it properly but I just cant’t bring myself to use this cover in the dark… What a shame to not be able to see this adorable print! I used different types of inserts and they all worked well.  The fit of the cover is good. My daughter who is almost 9 months old and at the 50th percentile on her growth chart currently wears it at the lowest rise setting. She’s very close to being able to wear it on the middle rise setting but with a thin insert, I find the smallest rise fits better. Also, if you have  a smaller baby, tabs can be crossed over for if you choose the snap closure.

I chose the snap closure even though I always find it a little trickier to get the perfect fit with snaps because I felt that they would blend in better with the cute print whereas an applix stip might stand out more. That’s just my personal preference. Fortunately, Brookiellen Designs offers both snap and applix closure so you can choose the one you prefer.

Overall, I have to say that I love this cover. I like that it blends functionality and style perfectly. This cover has become a conversation starter and I love how people compliment on it and start asking questions about cloth diapers. I think every little bum deserves to look this good, don’t you think?
