My life is full of spills and messes and now that I am a mom, this is more true than ever! I find I continually have to wipe, sweep, wash, or scrub something. I’ve always been wary of cleaning products full of chemicals but there is only a limited section of green cleaning products in my local stores and truth by said, most of there weren’t doing the job half as well as the regular (full of chemicals) cleaning products.

I know many of you have the same dilemma and don’t know where to go for green AND effective cleaning products. The answer is simple: look for Better Life products. They offer everything from all-purpose cleaner, dish soap and dishwasher gel, floor cleaner, stone/granite cleaner, hand soaps, kitchen and bath scrubber, nursery cleaner, and much more.

Better Life products are made of natural, plant-derived ingredients, have no dyes or synthetic fragrances, no sulfates, no bleach, no alcohol or ammonia (so no VOCs), no petroleum-based ingredients. They are also cruelty free. All their products are made in the US and were created by 2 dads (one of them a chemist) who wanted to rid their home of harmful chemicals found in cleaning products.

As I said before, I tried other green cleaning products before and I wasn’t impressed with the results. But by reading the labels, I also found out that those so-called green products weren’t as clean as I would have expected. The Better Life team found the same thing and actually included a chart on their website comparing other green cleaning products to theirs by listing typically found chemical agents in cleaning products (ammonia, petroleum-based products, synthetic fragrances, etc). The only products that could truly claim to be green and safe are Better Life’s products.

Actually, you don’t have to ask yourself too many questions about Better Life products because everything you want to know is on the label. It’s one of the best designed label I’ve seen: the front of the label has the name of the product (which are all very inventive and funny in my opinion), on the back of the label you will find an ingredient list but also an ingredient summary which tells you exactly where the cleaning agents come from. For example, for the what-EVER! All-Purpose Cleaner, it only takes a quick glance to know that 62% of the cleaning agents come from coconut, 27% from corn, and 11% from amino acid. It’s nice be able to understand where a cleaning product comes from, isn’t it?

You’ll also find on the label a table let you know what surfaces you can use the products on (usually the list is quite long, meaning the product can be used on multiple surfaces). They also included a section as to why the product is good for people and for the planet. There’s a quick description of its performance and also how it is non-toxic. As I said, the label says it all!

Now let’s take a look at each of the individual Better Life cleaning products I received. I should ‘warn’ you that I will show a few real before-after pictures. Yes, my floors, my sink, my messes!

First of all, I received the what-EVER! All-Purpose Cleaner. It comes in a scent-free and a naturally scented sage and citrus formula. I chose the scented formula and I immediately feel in love with it. The scent is pleasant yet gentle. It leaves a very delicate scent that isn’t overpowering and nauseating like some of the other green and non-green cleaning products I’ve tried. Actually, all the Better Life products I’ve tried have this light natural scent to them which is definitely a bonus considering that some of synthetic fragrances used in cleaning products can irritate skin and the respiratory system.

As far as the performance goes, I have yet to find a task that it cannot accomplish. I’ve used it mostly on countertops and in the bathroom. What’s great is that because it performs so well, I don’t have to use very much product at all and I don’t have to scrub for hours to get everything clean. I’ve also found that it leaves no residue and doesn’t have to be rinsed. This is also true of all the other Better Life products I tried.

The second product I tried is Simply Floored! Floor Cleaner (I told you the name were funny!) This product has a mint and citrus scent. It is one of my favorite products! We have hardwood floors, 2 dogs and a baby so the floors constantly have to be washed. The product I used to use would leave streaks and the floors were never really shinny. With Simply Floored!, I don’t have to be on my hands and knees washing, rinsing, and re-washing again to get great looking floors. I just squirt a bit and wipe it off with a microfiber mop. You can also use it with sponge mop and even a steam one. I have also used it on my ceramic floors in the kitchen and bathroom and it performs equally well.

I also received a bottle of No Regrets Hand and Body Soap. It has a citrus and mint scent. They have a few different scents for you to choose from: CoolYule (holiday themed citrus spice scent), Go Forth & Conquer (sage and citrus). I keep this soap in the kitchen to wash my hand when I cook. It does a great job to clean my hands but not only that, it doesn’t leave my hands greasy nor dry them out thanks to aloe, botanical extracts, and vitamins in the soap.

My favorite Better Life product is Even The Kitchen Sink Cleansing Scrubber. It’s my go-to product for my glass cooktop, my stainless steel appliances, tub, sinks, etc. I only use a tiny dab and it does wonders to remove stains and grime without much elbow grease at all! I am most impressed by how effective it is for my cooktop. I use to hate cleaning it because the product I used has a terrible scent that would linger forever and I needed to use so much of it, scrub, rinse, try again to get it clean. Even The Kitchen Sink works much much MUCH better! I’m actually surprised that a green product could be so potent. In the pictures below, you can see my cooktop before and after I cleaned it. The ‘before’ shot is pretty bad because I just had a complete disaster: was cooking dinner, daughter started crying, left the kitchen a few minutes to comfort daughter, came back to overflown pots and pans… I’m not proud of it but at least it shows all of you the magic that they’ve put in that little bottle!

Another great product I got to try is the 2am Miracle Nursery Cleaner. It is designed to clean and deodorize safely. It can also be used for pet clean ups. It can be used for cribs, changing tables, car seats, high chairs, toys, etc. It’s also a great pre-spotter for clothes and bibs. I have mainly used it for my daughter’s highchair and toys and all of her stuff. I find it gives me great peace of mind to know that if my daughter’s food doesn’t get touch a surface that was cleaned with harsh chemicals. Same thing with her toys which she sometimes puts in her mouth.

I received a bottle of Natural Stain & Odor Eliminator. It has a lavender and lemongrass scent. I find this product’s scent to be slightly more powerful than the other products but still not nearly as strong as other cleaning products. It can be used on carpet, upholstery and sporting gear and other things that can be difficult to clean. I used it on stained clothes as a pre-treatment then washed the item with my clothes as usual. It did a great job on the stains and also works well to eliminate odors. It’s color safe and can be used on any fabric.

Last but not least is the Oak-y Dokey Wood Cleaner and Polish. This product has a cinnamon and lavender scent (it’s one of my favorite scent combinations). As the name says, it cleans and conditions wood. I like that it cleans easily without leaving streaks and it doesn’t leave a waxy buildup. I use it for my kitchen table and buffet regularly and the results far exceed those of my former wood cleaner.
