I like products that encourage creative play. Fibre-Craft has created the new BENDASTIX product that is an imaginative construction type toy that incorporates 1/2 arts and crafts and 1/2 construction. Add in the fact that kids have great ideas and use their imaginations often and you can expect to see some pretty cool creations. BENDASTIX are soft and squishy but are rigid enough that they stay in place as kids (or adults) form them into their new creation. BENDASTIX and accessories can be combined by bending and shaping to make endless creations. The best part about BENDASTIX is that they don’t break.
We received The Big Box BENDASTIX for review. This was the first time I had ever heard of BENDASTIX and I wasn’t sure what to expect. The box is really eye catching. I like that it shows so many ideas and combinations to give a good impression of what’s in the box. One of my pet peeves is standing in front of a store shelf looking for a gift and not even understanding what a product is supposed to be or do. BENDASTIX did a great job relaying what kind of kit you are getting.
We broke open the BENDASTIX box and found all the pieces neatly contained in bags by sizes. We decided to just jump in and opened everything and made a pile on the counter so everyone could dig for what they wanted. Our 6 year old decided he would try to make a motorcycle. That was a little tricky for him so he ended up switching to glasses, snakes, and people. Our 8 year old was able to create multiple things as well. After making a set of glasses, she proceeded to make a family of snakes, a person, and then finished off with a fishing rod and fish. The kids continued to create and share with each other with no prompting from me. The pieces of our Big Box Kit are beautifully colored with patterns and designs which adds to the fun.
The box states BENDASTIX are for ages 6+. While I agree that it is more geared for this age, our 2 1/2 year old had no trouble joining in and helping make his own creations. Of course, he stuck with snakes but it was nice that he could participate without getting frustrated. I did end up helping him out a little and then he spent the rest of the time playing snake while the other two kids kept creating.
All in all, the kids had a great time. It was nice that The Big Box BENDASTIX had enough pieces to go around for the three of them. My favorite part about this, though, is that we can reuse our BENDASTIX so the creating doesn’t end.

If I could change anything with this kit, I would love even more pieces.
