Thank you Live Clean
for providing me with products to review, free of charge,
and for sponsoring this giveaway.

These are my own honest opinions.

Washing and styling my hair is something I don’t spend of lot of time planning and thinking about. I’m one of these people who sort of get stuck in a routine and I always go for the same products, not really analyzing the products’ content or reflecting on why I should choose certain products over others.

The other day, as I was washing my daughters with super gentle, lightly scented Live Clean baby products, I thought to myself: why do I take all the care in the world when it comes to protecting their skin from harmful chemicals while I spend literally less than 2 seconds thinking about all the chemicals I put on my head day after day?

The Age Resist collection currently includes 4 products: Shampoo, Conditioner, Multi 10-in-1 treatment, and Miracle Nutrition Oil. These products are 96% to 99% plant-derived and like all other Live Clean products, they are entirely free of paraben, phtalates, phosphate, SLS/sulfates and petroleum. They all contain certified organic botanicals. You can’t get much greener and safer than this! Plus they smell absolutely wonderful. Depending on the product, their scent reminds me of coconut or vanilla, fruit, or flowers.

First, there’s the Life Clean Age Resist Shampoo. It is designed to strengthen and moisture hair thanks to avocado and rosehip oils and is packed with anti-oxidants (pomegranate, gogi, and blueberry extracts). The hydrolyzed wheat protein also thicken hairs for more volume. I really like this shampoo. It doesn’t lather very much but that’s to be expected because what makes shampoos lather are chemicals. Even without all the bubbles, this shampoo does a great job at removing dirt and excess oil from my hair but you may find you need to apply a bit more than usual or do a double shampoo. It leaves my hair moisturized and light.

Then there’s the Life Clean Age Resist Conditioner. I have to be honest, I disregarded conventional conditioners a long time ago because even though they seem to work well, I didn’t feel like I needed extra chemicals in my hair. The Age Resist Conditioner feels and behaves just like any other conditioner. It is creamy and easy to apply. It also contains avocado and rosehip oils which moisturizes and anti-oxidant fruit extracts as well as hydrolyzed wheat protein. The uniqueness of this product is that the Life Clean team was able to create a plant-based silicone alternative, which means you can get smooth, silky hair in a totally natural way. I’m totally in love with this conditioner! My hair is easy to comb and doesn’t feel heavy or greasy afterwards.

There is also the Multi 10-in-1 Treatment. This product is designed to moisturize, protect, repair, soften, increase sheen, strengthen, smooth, tame fly-aways, shield against UV rays and increase manageability. You simply add a small amount (one pump or more if necessary) to wet hair before styling them to get all these benefits. I really really wanted to love this product. I mean, it does amazing things and my hair could certainly use a boost. However, it didn’t work as well for my hair for whatever reason. I felt it changed the texture a bit, making my hair feel more greasy than usual. I tried it a few times, and followed the directions (adding one pump only) but didn’t get the expect results. I will continue to try it , using a bit less and maybe focusing more on the ends than on the roots of my hair until I find the right balance.

live clean age resist 2Last but not least, comes the amazing Nutrition Oil. This little bottle contains dual layer oil (in its natural states, you can see a yellow layer on top and an orange layer underneath). This is meant as an ’emergency rescue’ product to be used as needed as a pre-shampoo treatment. This unique combination increases sheen and density so hair appears thicker, fuller and healthier. This is a little miracle in a bottle. I like how it works with my hair. It’s really effective as restoring lustre without making my hair appear greasy. I don’t use it every time I wash my hair but if I feel my hair is dry or dull, I know this little product can come to the rescue!

You know, most people think that eco-friendly, plant-based hair care products don’t just do the job as well as the chemically-filled equivalents. I have to say, after ‘testing’ these products for a few weeks, I have to agree. They don’t do the job as well… they do it BETTER!
