School is starting soon here and I know many are already back in session. We homeschool and wanted to start with a very lax schedule last week to get back into the swing of things. Of course, on what was supposed to be our first day, our almost 4 year old woke up sick. So I spent most of the day dealing with him and cleaning/disinfecting the house. The next day, our 2 year old got it. Then, the very next day after that, our 7 year old got it. So, four days after what was going to be our initial day, we actually began our schooling. Thankfully, everyone is on the mend and we have some fun learning products from Learning Resources to incorporate into our learning schedule.
We were sent the Wild About Animals: Ready Set Roar Game for this review. Geared for ages 3 and up (PreK +), this game offers a variety of versions of play as well as the ability to create new ways of using the pieces. Included in this set are 20 Animal Print Mats that are 8 inches square each and 3 foam cubes. There are five different Animal Print Mats: Tiger, Giraffe, Zebra, Snake, and Bird with four of each kind. The three foam cubes include one of each: Number, Color, Animal.
Our kids are 9, 7, almost 4, and 2 years old but we decided to try to include everyone even though the youngest is slightly under the recommended age. We went through most of the game suggestions in the instructions and the kids had a blast. From Color Matching Mat Jumping to practicing Animal Noises and Sleeping Habits, to Animal Facts and Matching Mats, the kids loved the variety of play. Since our 2 year old doesn’t talk much yet, he didn’t participate in everything but the older three kids encouraged him and included him anyway. They loved watching each other and I loved seeing their creativity.
The Wild About Animals: Ready Set Roar definitely encourages active play. The kids were hopping, jumping, and running from square to square and after the dice. Since we played outside, they loved being able to throw the blocks as high as possible. The giggles were non-stop and we are really enjoying having this game in our collection.
