Growing up, my parents juiced for our family for years.  While I didn’t understand the benefits as a young child, I do now.  My husband and I juiced for awhile with a cheap juicer a couple years back and we dreaded the process every time.  Everything about that juicer was difficult, from assembly to cleaning.  However, my friend has an older model Champion Juicer and loves it.  So when I had the chance to feature Champion in a “Birthday Gift Idea” review, I was particularly excited to give one a try for myself.

The Standard Household Champion Juicer arrived on my doorstep and I felt like a child on Christmas.  When I went to grab the box, I was extremely surprised at how heavy this juicer was but it gave me in inkling of how well made it would be too!  So, I got busy unpacking and read through the directions.  I had already filled our fridge with some fruits and vegetables for juicing but, while scouring the recipes, I came across an ice cream recipe that I decided to try.   This particular recipe (being ice cream) takes a little prep and then freezer time.  When the words ice cream were heard, I had helpers all around!

After following the instructions, we placed our “mix” in the freezer for about 4 hours to freeze.  Once ready, I assembled our Champion Juicer with the homogenizing part.  Then, I sliced the frozen tray and our son helped me feed it through the juicer.  We were both completely amazed that out came Ice Cream!  When my husband came in, I grabbed the cup out of the freezer I had saved for him and he thought it was store bought ice cream and that I made vanilla shakes.  So yummy!

Now that we knew The Champion Juicer could serve up an awesome dessert, I wanted to test out it’s vegetable juicing capabilities.  I cut off the top of the carrots and cored and sliced the apples, per directions.  Then, the kids and I fed them through the juicer one at a time.   The Champion worked fantastically well.  Plus, I felt like we ended up with less pulp (which means less waste) than with our old juicer.
