Thank you to Chococurb for providing me with product in exchange for review purposes. All opinions belong to me.

I talk about Portland Oregon a lot, how could I not? Portland is after all where I got married and honeymooned! I also ate delicious fine foods, tried tantalizing desserts, and delved into a chocolate world I had never known existed. The work that a chocolatier puts into their creations is definitely overlooked, especially when there are companies tarnishing the true value of a chocolate treat! Chococurb is here to deliver you a chocolate adventure the way a chocolatier wants you to explore chocolate. With respect to each Chocolatier the chocolates are hand selected and shipped to you monthly in a beautiful box.

I received a Chococurb subscription box valued at $35 which includes 5-7 hand selected chocolate adventures. First let me start off by saying that while everyone knows chocolate is good, not everyone has experienced a chocolate delicacy. Each piece in this box was a true taste bud adventure, and I didn’t even need to leave my house to explore!

The first chocolate I will discuss is the Red Pepper Flake Hazelnut Toffee. This chocolate/toffee was so good I loved it so much, the kick in the back of the throat was something to get used to for sure as I don’t normally combine spicy with chocolate.Chococurb a chocolate subscription box review

The chocolate I feared ended up being the Anti-dote almond fennel chocolate. Fear no more this was my absolute favorite of all the chocolates. I appreciated the attention to detail, the light earthy-ness of the fennel and the crunchy but melty texture. A lot of true thought went into this combination and I thank Anti-dote for that!

TCHO served up two flavors of chocolate. The first one a milk chocolate classic with caramel notes. I really liked this and really did experience notes of caramel.

Oh Coffee, how I wished I loved you, you smell so amazing, but your taste isn’t for me. TCHO changed my whole perspective on coffee. This Mokaccino is described as a cappuccino with a rich drinking chocolate-in a bar. The smells of this bar, ah-mazing. The flavors make me crave coffee! The texture was another perfect pitch, crispy but creamy, and the creamier the chocolate gets the more developed the flavor becomes. I really enjoyed this chocolate bar and would love to try more of them in the future.

Pacari Chocolate with fig was fragrant upon unwrapping. The flavor held the same aromatic intensity, a robust dried fig flavor within the bold arms of dark chocolate.

I’ve been known to really enjoy plain foods. My argument for a plain food is that I get to taste the individual food in a pure form, with no distractions. Marou chocolate honors the chocolate bean, it’s delicately crafted to be able to showcase the hidden fruit taste of chocolate. The texture is crisp which is another characteristic to honoring the cocoa fruit flavor, there is no creaminess to over complicate the experience.

Any of the fruit, nut or caramel ones sound awesome. I love trying all different kinds.

I’ve never been to Portland but I’d totally try their chocolates. I like trying different flavors of chocolate like these and experiment putting baking chocolate at home, into all kinds of things.
