I love encouraging our children to be generous in their time, talents, and love. So for Halloween, we baked some delicious Lemon Flavored Sugar Cookies and handed them out at the local Nursing Home. We also volunteer to serve whenever the church has a funeral. The kids bring a smile to faces during that difficult time and I love seeing them enjoy working hard for others. So for Easter, we spent some time coloring eggs with a kid-safe KoolAid recipe that I found online.
KoolAid Colored Easter Eggs Recipe:
~1 packet KoolAid (bold colors)
~2/3 cup water (any temp)
~Hard Boiled White Eggs
We used blue, orange, green, red, and what I thought was purple/grape but was actually a mixed berry so it turned out to be a darker red. (Next time I will read the names!) We used luke-warm water and the kids mixed up the powder and got to work. The eggs started turning immediately after submersion but they quickly learned that the longer the eggs stayed in, the deeper the colors turned. This was a fun activity that the kids thoroughly enjoyed. NOTE: KoolAid will stain though so be careful or wear old clothes.
