Thank you to Islabikes for providing me with product in exchange for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

How did my son Liam feel when he saw his Cnoc 16 from Islabikes arrive in the mail? Ecstatic is an understatement. My son Liam started off his bicycling journey on a stryder balance bike when he was roughly 18 months old. If you are unsure of what a balance bike is, essentially it is a bike without pedals, under the theory that children are far more confidant and secure learning bike by learning balance first then peddling later on. My son has mastered just about everything there was to know on a balance bike from pinching the tires to a stop, to skidding, to wheelies, he had it down pat. Balance bikes are designed much more ergonomically friendly to the learning child then a standard bicycle. A main feature of a balance bike is having a lower center of gravity, knowing this made me really want a great bike to transition from balance to starter bike. I present to you the Cnoc 16 from Islabikes.

Islabikes are designed with child friendly mechanics in each and every model that they make. Maintaining a Lower center of gravity is a highlight as well as pedals that fit the inseam of the child’s legs without stretch or reach (if measured correctly). Of course there are many other child friendly factors like the light weight aluminum frame so the child can pick up and carry the bike if needed. This is something Liam really enjoys about his bike, boys and their muscles, am I right?

The pedals on Cnoc16 are designed so rest at the ideal angle for beginning pedaling. The Cranks on the bike are lightweight aluminum and narrow in order to accompany little legs. Isla Bikes Specialty Bike Review

The smaller chainlinks and sprockets offer children the perfect gear for learning while being kept away inside the chain guard to keep from pinched fingers, snagged pant legs and so on.

Handlebar breaks were an area I feared would cause a bit of confusion for Liam but Islabikes has thoroughly tested handlebar stems and break levers to be sure of perfect placement for little hands to quickly and easily reach so naturally.

Islabikes come with lightweight aluminum wheels to be sure that the bike rolls smoothly and quickly, with the perfect amount of slim light spokes to ensure strength and safety. Isla Bikes Specialty Bike Review

The seat from Islabikes is made so very detailed and custom for each child to ensure not only comfortable seating but proper seating in reference to the pedals. Isla Bikes Specialty Bike Review

So all in all how did Liam do going from no pedals to pedals and brakes? Watching him learn to ride the Cnoc 16 was unbelievable, there was no scared child being pushed my myself or my husband with fear of us letting go and the inevitable crash. He simply picked the bike up, got on, pushed with his feet, coasted for a bit and attempted the pedals. He did crash a couple times at a pretty slow pace but had the confidence to get back up get on and keep trying was astonishing! All in all it took him about an hour to learn to actually pedal the bike and a day on and off to learn the braking system, he does favor the handle breaks to the pedal breaks still.

Islabikes were so kind as to personalize Liam’s bike with his name and sent a second name tag as well, he absolutely loved this about his new bike!
