I was sent Bright Endeavors candles for review. All opinions are my own.

I was 18 when I first got an apartment. It wasn’t a terrible place, but it was far from nice. It was all that we could afford at the time, and we were happy to have our own place, even if it was a little rough-looking. I didn’t mind the really thin carpet, and the outdated cupboards. Only one thing did bother me about it at first, and it was the smell. I wouldn’t say that it stunk, but you could tell that it had been left empty for a few months. I really wanted to open the windows and just let it air out because it juts had that “shut-in” smell going on. It was too cold to do that though, so I remember being so happy when we bought a candle shortly after we moved in. It felt like lighting our first candle there made it a little bit more “ours”.

Since then, whenever I light candles I think about how that candle helped me feel like our apartment was more of our own space. Candles and scent in general can really change the atmosphere, and a great-smelling home is just so soothing in my opinion.

I love getting candles, so I was excited to work with Creative Endeavors on a review of their soy candles. They are a great Valentine’s day gift idea for the woman in your life!

Bright Endeavors soy candles

Creative Endeavors makes candles in a few different sizes. The ones that I were sent were their signature size which is 11oz and they come in a clear glass jar. They are made with soy wax and a phthalate-free fragrance. They have a burn time of 40 hours and they are made right in Chicago (USA). I love supporting US businesses, and I’ve been really happy with the quality of these candles.

I adore soy candles because they burn evenly and are soot-free. From Bright Endeavors I was sent two signature glass soy candles. One in Water Lily, and one in Vanilla Honey. The Water Lily scent is a very fresh and light scent that is pretty neutral. If you live with someone who doesn’t care for strong scents, this would be a great choice to go with because it just seems like a pretty natural fit for a household scent in that it’s not particularly fruity, sweet, etc.

I’ve always been a fan of sugary and fruity scents, but Ryan doesn’t care for really obvious “food” scents. I buy a lot of vanilla scented things because it’s a scent we both enjoy. This vanilla honey candle smells a bit more sugary or sweet than regular vanilla but it’s not fruity or “food-like” enough to bother Ryan. It has a nice bold scent to it, so even if it isn’t lit I notice the smell when I walk past the shelf we have it resting on.

In addition to being happy with the quality of these candles, I love the concept of Bright Endeavors. They are located in the US and provide work opportunities for young mothers. They help young moms who may have dropped out of school and/or gotten pregnant young. They offer a job training program to help young moms living in poverty learn skills that can help them secure quality employment. Of course, when young mother’s are helped in such a way, this also greatly helps their children. So you can feel great for supporting this business that supports young moms and their kids.
