Thank you to VTech for sending the video monitor for review in exchange for my honest opinion!
My daughter has slept in her crib in the room next to ours since she was about two weeks old. As a first time mom and a light sleeper: thank goodness for video monitors! I am happy to be able to roll over and check on her via the video monitor and not always have to get out of bed to make sure she is ok. I jumped at the chance to partner with VTech to try out their Wi-Fi HD Video Monitor.
There are tons of awesome features to the VTech Wi-Fi HD Video Monitor:
- View and remotely listen in via multiple devices, even from outside the home by using the free MyFTech Baby app.
- Five inch touch screen on the parent unit allows you to see every angle of the room
- Up to 10x digital zoom with a touch of your fingers.
- Camera transmits 720p high-definition video
- Camera is easily adjustable up, down and side to side.
- Motion alerts to let you know if your baby woke up or if someone walked into the room, with alerts sent directly to the parent unit, your smartphone or tablet.

- At night it uses automatic infrared night vision.
- You can record a video or take a photo on demand.

Overall we are really pleased with our new VTech Wi-Fi HD Video Monitor. A few things stood out to us about this monitor. We loved how easy it was to set up. My husband had it ready to go in just a few minutes. The five inch touch screen on the parent unit is extremely nice. Also, the view on the parent unit is super clear. I can be anywhere in our home, outside or elsewhere and see and check on our daughter when she’s napping.
There are a couple small tweaks I would love to see in the next generation of this video monitor from VTech. More adjustability in the movement of the monitor would be great. Right now you can move it up down, right and left, but it would be nice to have a greater range so it would be easier to see directly down into the crib. It would be fantastic if it also came with hardware so you could mount it to the wall if you wanted instead of having to have it sitting on something like a shelf. Finally, I noticed that my daughter was really drawn to the red and blue lights on the baby unit. Every time she makes noise, they light up and they really caught her attention. This may be something that she doesn’t notice in the future, but right now she’s definitely noticing it and pointing at the lights. It would be nice if those lights could be less bright and or another softer color in a future version of the monitor.
This monitor wouldn’t just need to be used for babies. Someday, when we have other children it will be great to have a monitor in the downstairs bedroom, so we can check on older children from upstairs. It would also be nice for pet parents to be able to look in on their animals, especially while away from home.

This sounds like an amazing video baby monitor! I definitely never had anything this cool when I had my babies! 🙂 I really like the idea of being able to actually watch a video of your baby as well as listen.

I really like the Vtech brands and have found they are very dependable. I could see the problem with the lights, but that is the infared working, I dont know if they could eliminate r even block them. You would lose night time viewing. We have security lights and they use a red that bugs just love! I really like they parent control side, thats a nice unit for sure!

That is a great monitor with good features. I don’t need it for a baby but I could use it for other rooms in the house.
