Fairy Gardens are all the rage these days and my daughter hopped right aboard the train. Truthfully, I actually don’t even mind! I love that she wants to do something creative with her hands and any activity or toy that engages children without a screen gets bonus points in my book. So when I came across the My Fairy Garden Magical Cottage from PlayMonster, I thought it would be perfect to help kids celebrate Easter or even just as a Spring activity to usher in the new season.

Not just a toy but a real live garden, everything needed to create an amazing Fairy Garden Cottage is included in this package. To start, we had to soak the compacted soil discs in water for about 30 minutes. The kids were quite impressed to see the soil release and fluff up during that time so we turned it into a learning moment too!
After the soil was ready, our oldest scooped and raked it into the tray and the top of the flower pot to create the garden base of our Fairy Garden. The soil looked and felt extremely fresh and was very easy to use.
Once that process was complete, it was time to plant the seeds. She followed the directions and planted them all around her garden, spacing them as suggested. During this process, we talked about how fairy gardens grow and the fact that seeds need soil, water, air, and sunlight to flourish.
After the seeds were planted, she made sure to give her garden water.
Finally, one of her favorite parts was setting up her garden accessories. She decorated the garden with the included furniture, fairy, and friend. Ta-da!
