Some people are stomach sleepers, other find more comfort on their backs or sides. I myself am a side sleeper at least when I start to sleep.  My husband is more of a back sleeper to start with and might migrate to his side depending on the night. So what does this mean for the sake of a pillow? For myself I need a more firm pillow that fills my shoulder space, but that wont hurt my neck if i roll to my back. My husband desires a much more flat pillow that he’s able to bunch up when he gets to his side. Often we are left trying to integrate these concepts in the middle of the night while half awake. which leaves us sore and frankly, grumpy.

Sleeping Organic has a Shredded Latex Pillow that is adjustable. I loved that I need not worry about material used or potential off gases from the stuffing within the pillow its self. On one hand its easy to dismiss things like toxic chemical and off gasses with things so minor as pillows and sleep wear. On the other hand if you consider you’re spending 8 hours of your night face to face breathing deeply next to those chemical filled things, a more organic option begins to sound more fitting. Each organic pillow came inside a cover or material bag.

My husband and I liked the idea of these pillows because what stuffing he removed from the pillow I was then able to add to mine if I wanted or remove and save for a DIY pillow project! The DIY pillow project is still under works as I’ve been a bit swamped in my sewing area lately but I’me really excited to make my kids a little neck pillow for the car. The pillow has a zippered opening at one end which gives direct access to the shreds inside. The removal process can be a bit messy but easily cleaned up if on hard flooring. 

Altogether my husband and I removed about a grocery bags amount from our pillow combined. Getting used to the pillow did take some time, I would start off right out of the package very firm and tried a nights sleep to figure the adjustments needed. After using another pillow to let my neck heal from that very firm night I began adjusting each night until I was happy with the final outcome. So how does my final outcome with my Shredded Latex Pillow feel? A medium firmness pillow that when needed I can sort of nestle my head into to disperse some of the fluff for comfortable back sleeping. Want to try one out yourself? Enter to win below!
